Can You Stay Logged In to Two Flickr Accounts at Once on One Computer?
Can you be signed in to two Flickr accounts at once on one computer?
Not in a way Flickr documents. According to Flickr's Help Center (read 3 October 2026), signing in takes one email address and one password, and none of the pages read describes an account switcher or two accounts signed in side by side on flickr.com. The one page about holding several accounts is short: each account needs its own email address, accounts cannot be merged, and photos have to be moved by hand.
Nothing on that page treats a second account as a problem in itself. It is written for people who already run more than one, such as a personal account plus one for an organisation or an event, and it names no cap. What the Terms and the rules say is in the rules guide.
What does the Help Center say about holding several accounts?
| Where | What the pages say | Page |
|---|---|---|
| Any Flickr account | Each account needs a unique email address, and one address can belong to only one account at a time | Managing Multiple Flickr Accounts (updated 21 August 2025) |
| Moving content | Accounts cannot be merged and photos cannot be transferred directly, so you download from one account and upload to the other. View counts, comments and upload dates do not carry over | Same page |
| Sign-in on flickr.com | A full email address and a password, not a username. No account switcher is described | Logging in to Your Flickr Account (updated 21 August 2025) |
| Windows Auto-Uploadr | For Pro members. It connects to one account through a code generated after you sign in. To use other credentials, choose the tray icon, then the Account icon, then Sign out | About the Flickr Auto-Uploadr for Windows |
| Mac Auto-Uploadr | For Pro members. Menu bar icon, then the Settings icon, then Preferences, then the Account icon, then Log out | About the Flickr Auto-Uploadr for Mac |
| Third-party apps | Settings lists the apps you have allowed to interact with the account under Account Links, and you can manage them there at any time | Overview of Your Flickr Account Settings |
The Flickr mobile app has its own help pages, and this guide does not cover it.
Two practical points follow from those pages. First, the uploader links to whichever account you are signed in to on the web when the code is generated, so check which account is open before you enter it. Second, Flickr suggests clear profile information so you can tell accounts apart. Your real name is the one shown prominently on your profile, photos and comments, and your display name appears in smaller text. Neither is a login: you still sign in with the email address and password.
How do you open a second account the official way?
- Pick an email address that no other Flickr account uses.
- Go to Flickr.com and select SIGN UP. Flickr asks whether you want Flickr Pro. You can continue with a free account.
- Enter your details and select Sign Up.
- Open the verification email and select Confirm my Flickr account. The Help Center says these links expire after 24 hours and that the mail comes from donotreply@flickr.com, so look in spam and trash too.
- Sign in with the email address and password.
Flickr requires new users to be 18 or older (The rules of Flickr, updated 28 June 2026). If sign-up shows an error, the Help Center names two checks: the password must meet the on-screen requirements, with every checkmark under the field blue, and the email may already be tied to an existing account, in which case use a different one. If neither helps, contact Support and list the steps you took.
Which setups keep two accounts apart on one computer?
| Setup | What stays separate | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Sign out, then sign in again, in one browser profile | Nothing: one set of stored sign-in data | Simple, and for the uploader apps it is the route Flickr describes. Easy to act as the wrong account |
| One browser profile per account | Chrome says profiles keep bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings separate, and Chromium lists cookies among profile data | Both accounts can stay open in two windows |
| One browser per account | Each browser keeps its own data | Flickr lists Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Edge as supported, so only a few accounts fit this way |
| Firefox containers | Cookies, localStorage, indexedDB and caches per container; history and bookmarks are not separated | Several accounts in one window |
Flickr's pages recommend none of these over the others. A profile separates stored browser data, nothing more, and it does not change what Flickr's rules allow. The step-by-step version is in separate browser profiles for Flickr accounts. New to the term? Read what a browser profile is, and see the comparison with a VPN and a private window if you wonder how those differ.
What if the second account will not sign in?
- Username error. The login takes a full email address. Anything else gives an error.
- Wrong mailbox. Reset links and verification codes go to that account's own email address, so with two accounts check the right inbox first.
- Reset. Use Forgot password on the sign-in page. The Help Center says reset links stay valid for 24 hours, and a new password needs at least 12 characters.
- Cookies. Cookies must be enabled for Flickr to remember that you are signed in.
- Cannot read the login email. The Account Recovery Process checks your identity with approved methods only, and the page warns that access may not be restored if you cannot verify.
More causes are in why Flickr logs you out or asks for a code.
Where ADSSPEED fits
ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. If you run a personal Flickr account and another for an organisation you are authorised to manage, each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so both accounts can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. Profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and their data stays on your own computer. ADSSPEED does not change what Flickr allows or how Flickr treats an account. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Flickr.
Frequently asked questions
Can you have multiple Flickr accounts?
The Help Center page Managing Multiple Flickr Accounts is written for people who hold several and names no cap. It asks for a unique email address per account and says accounts cannot be merged. The Terms page read does not state a limit either. Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage.
Can several users share one Flickr account?
The Help Center describes no team seats or delegated logins. It says accounts are designed for login by the owner or administrator and that Flickr supports only the registered account owner. The business guide covers ownership choices and the admin and moderator roles that exist inside Groups.
Why did my Flickr account creation fail?
The Help Center names two common causes for the Oops, something went wrong message at sign-up: a password that does not meet the on-screen rules, or an email address already tied to another Flickr account. Try a different email in the second case, and contact Support with the steps you tried if it still fails.
Can I log in to Flickr with a username and password?
Not with a username. According to the Help Center, the current login system needs a full email address plus your Flickr password, and anything else produces an error. Your real name and display name are not login credentials.
Can I log in to Flickr with Gmail?
The pages read describe signing in with the account's email address and a Flickr password, and they do not describe a separate Google sign-in button. If the email on your account happens to be a Gmail address, you enter that address together with your Flickr password.
