KakaoTalk
Can You Use Two KakaoTalk Accounts on One Computer? PC Login, Devices and Limits
Can you use two KakaoTalk accounts on one computer?
Not as two side-by-side logins in the desktop app, as far as Kakao's own help pages go. The pages read for this guide (on 3 October 2026) describe KakaoTalk for PC and Mac as a companion to the phone app: KakaoTalk can be used on one PC or Mac at a time, together with the phone, and the PC version depends on a mobile authentication step. None of the pages describes a mode for running a second account next to the first in the PC app.
The real answer depends on the surface. The desktop app, the phone and Kakao's browser-based tools follow different rules, so this page takes them one by one. Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow KakaoTalk's rules, summarised in what Kakao's terms say about multiple accounts.
How the PC and Mac version signs in
| Topic | What Kakao's Help Center says |
|---|---|
| Login | Use the Kakao Account email address and password registered in mobile KakaoTalk, or scan a QR code with the phone |
| Phone dependence | Mobile authentication is required; the PC version assists the app and can be used only when the app can authenticate |
| First time on a computer | A one-time registration or authentication, confirmed through the phone |
| Registered computers | Up to 5 PCs per Kakao Account (English page); the Korean page for Macs also says authentication is possible on up to 5 devices |
| In use at once | One PC or Mac at a time; the phone can be used at the same time |
| Managing computers | On the phone: More > Settings > Privacy > Manage Devices, to log a PC out or deregister it |
Signing in on a computer, step by step:
- In mobile KakaoTalk, register the email address that will serve as your Kakao Account. The English page puts this under More > Settings > Privacy > Kakao Account; the Korean page words the path a little differently, so follow the labels your app shows.
- Open KakaoTalk on the PC or Mac and either enter that email and password or choose login with QR code.
- For QR login, open the scanner in mobile KakaoTalk (from the search menu or the More menu) and scan the code on the computer screen.
- If the computer is new to the account, finish the authentication. Kakao's Korean page says the PC shows a security number that you enter through a message that arrives in the mobile app.
- Later, open Manage Devices on the phone to review, log out or deregister computers.
What the phone and account rules add
Three Help Center pages bear on "how many accounts", and they do not say the same thing:
- An English page, "What is a Kakao account?", says you may use only one Kakao Account per mobile number and vice versa. It says separate accounts need separate mobile numbers and a separate email address, and that connecting an account to a different number than the one it was registered with unregisters you from it.
- A Korean page about SMS verification describes a different limit: up to five accounts can be created with the same phone number, and one number can receive SMS authentication once a day and twice a month.
- A Korean page about identity verification says one person's name can be used on at most three Kakao Accounts.
None of these pages is dated, so treat the numbers as things Kakao can change, and let the sign-up screen decide. In practice a second account for use on a computer means a second phone-based setup. The Korean help page on PC authentication says that if you cannot use a mobile device or the KakaoTalk app, Kakao cannot help with the PC version.
Multi-profile is not a second account. Kakao's multi-profile feature lets one account show different profiles to different Kakao Talk friends. The Help Center says you can create up to 3 multi-profiles, from the settings icon on the Friends tab. It is the built-in option if the goal is a separate face for work friends, not a separate login.
Browser tools: where several Kakao sign-ins collide
The pages above describe KakaoTalk chat in the phone app and the PC or Mac app. Other Kakao tools run in a browser, for example the Kakao Account page at accounts.kakao.com. Kakao's help lists Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari as supported browsers for Kakao Account login, and a few documented behaviours matter when you handle more than one account:
- Kakao's developer FAQ says a Kakao Account can be logged in on multiple devices, and that a logout affects only the device you are using.
- The same FAQ explains that Kakao Account cookies can remain in the browser, so you may be logged in as the previous account when you sign in again; it advises deleting the cookie.
- The Help Center says that if you choose to keep your login, you stay signed in until you log out or delete the browser's cookies, and the option may be switched off after 30 days without a visit from that browser. It is not available in private browsing, and Kakao advises using it only on personal devices.
So giving each Kakao account its own browser profile, with its own cookies, keeps those sessions from overwriting one another. The step-by-step version is in keeping Kakao accounts apart with separate browser profiles, and the general idea is in what a browser profile is.
If it does not work
- A message saying the connection to the KakaoTalk server was terminated because your phone number is in use on another device. Kakao treats this as a possible compromise if you did not change devices; see why KakaoTalk logs you out or asks to verify.
- The PC asks for authentication and the phone is not at hand. Kakao's Korean page says the PC version needs the mobile authentication, so recover access to the phone first.
- A login failure although the network works. An English Help Center page says firewall settings on a workplace or public PC may block messenger programs such as KakaoTalk.
- A computer you no longer use is still listed. Use Manage Devices on the phone to log it out or deregister it.
Where ADSSPEED fits
ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so the Kakao web accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. A proxy can be set per profile, profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and profile data stays on your own computer. It does not replace the phone that KakaoTalk's PC version depends on, and it does not change Kakao's rules. Use it only with accounts you own or are authorised to manage. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with KakaoTalk.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have two KakaoTalk accounts?
Kakao's pages are not fully consistent. An English Help Center page says one Kakao Account per mobile number, while a Korean page about SMS verification says up to five accounts can be created with one number. Either way, each account needs its own phone-based setup.
Can I use KakaoTalk on two devices?
Yes, in the way Kakao designs it: the phone plus one PC or Mac at the same time. Kakao says KakaoTalk can be used on only one PC or Mac at a time, and an English Help Center page warns that using your phone number on another device ends the connection.
Can you use KakaoTalk on a computer?
Yes. Kakao provides a PC version for Windows and a Mac version. They are described as a companion to the phone app: you log in with your Kakao Account email and password or a QR code, and the computer is authenticated through the mobile app.
How does KakaoTalk PC login work?
Open KakaoTalk on the computer and log in with the Kakao Account email and password registered in the phone app, or choose QR login and scan the code from the scanner in mobile KakaoTalk (search menu or More menu). A computer that is not registered yet must complete authentication.
Does KakaoTalk have multiple profiles?
Yes, but it is not a second account. The multi-profile feature lets one account show different profiles to different friends, and Kakao's Help Center says you can create up to 3 multi-profiles from the settings icon on the Friends tab.
