Is It Against TikTok's Rules to Have Multiple Accounts? What the Terms Say
Is it against TikTok's rules to have more than one account?
Having more than one account is not, on its own, what TikTok's published rules target: they are about purpose and behaviour, not a headline number. In a newsroom post announcing refreshed Community Guidelines (21 March 2023), TikTok said it clarified that it does not allow using multiple accounts to get around its rules or their enforcement.
The three Terms of Service versions read for this guide (listed below) do not state a maximum number of accounts per person. They do prohibit specific behaviour tied to accounts. That is not an invitation to open accounts freely: every account is bound by the same rules, and the pages below were read on 3 October 2026. TikTok's help pages change, so check the current text for your region.

What the Terms say about accounts
| Topic | What TikTok's text says | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Sharing access | All three versions tell you to keep your password secure and not to disclose it to anyone else. The U.S. version adds that you may not let others use your account, or hand it over, unless TikTok permits it | U.S. 3.2, EEA 4.2, rest of world 4 |
| Using another person's account | Logging in to, or trying to use, somebody else's account without their consent or the proper authorisation is banned. The rest-of-world version also lists setting up a false identity | U.S. 3.4, EEA 4.5, rest of world 5 |
| Spam and impersonation accounts | The U.S. and EEA versions bar commercial activity that is not genuine, such as running spam or impersonation accounts. The rest-of-world version bars impersonating a person or entity | U.S. 3.4, EEA 4.5, rest of world 5 |
| Bots and scripts | U.S.: pulling data out of TikTok with automated systems or software, bots included, unless TikTok approves in writing. EEA: the same for software that TikTok did not provide or approve. Rest of world: automated scripts that gather information from, or otherwise interact with, the Services | U.S. 3.4, EEA 4.5, rest of world 5 |
| New account after a ban | U.S.: if a banned user comes back, say by opening a second account, TikTok may ban or suspend those accounts too. EEA: TikTok bars you from opening an account if it already ended one of yours for breaking the Terms or Guidelines | U.S. 5.2, EEA 4.2 |
| Idle usernames | U.S.: in some situations TikTok may take back or reassign a username, for example after 180 days without a login | U.S. 3.2 |
One example from outside the Terms: TikTok Shop Academy's policy pages for Vietnam and the Philippines list using multiple accounts to distribute the same livestream under artificial engagement.
What can happen to an account
- U.S. Terms: TikTok says it may ban or suspend an account, or limit its features, at any time and without warning, including when it believes the Terms or Guidelines were broken. A permanent ban ends the agreement, apart from the obligations that outlast it.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland Terms: TikTok may investigate and limit content or features in the meantime. It may suspend, restrict or end an account after a serious or repeated breach. It says it will normally warn you first, but not always.
- Devices: in a November 2019 newsroom post TikTok described a moderation approach of "banning devices associated with a banned account" and said it had overridden such a ban in one case. That is a dated statement, but it shows that a ban on one account can limit access to another account used from the same device.
Personal, business and other people's accounts
The U.S. and EEA Terms both say TikTok may offer different types of accounts. The U.S. Terms add that services accessed through TikTok For Business, TikTok Ads Manager and TikTok Business Center accounts are governed by separate terms. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, the Business Terms apply when TikTok is used for the work of a trade, business, craft or profession.
Under those Business Terms, TikTok may provide tools for a Business Account holder to let other people access or run the account, and the holder remains fully answerable for what happens in connection with it, including what those people do and any decision to grant or withdraw access. The practical setup is in managing several TikTok accounts with Business Center.
A practical checklist
- Confirm that you own each account, or hold written authorisation from the owner. The ownership model in how agencies manage multiple client ad accounts applies here too.
- Give each account its own honest purpose, such as a brand, a region or a client, and never use one account to inflate another.
- Do not share passwords. Use Business Center permissions or an Organization Account, as in the Business Center guide.
- Do not use bots or scripts to collect data from TikTok. The rest-of-world Terms also prohibit automated scripts that interact with the Services. Before connecting any third-party tool, read the Help Center's Connect to third-party apps article under Account and user safety.
- Never open a replacement account after a ban. Appeal instead.
- Re-read the Terms for your region now and then, and keep a record of who authorised you for each client account.
If an account is restricted or banned
Use the appeal route that TikTok provides. The U.S. Terms say you can appeal from inside the platform and that TikTok will then review its decision. The EEA, UK and Switzerland Terms say you can appeal and that TikTok gives access back if its action turns out to be unjustified. Do not create another account to carry on, because both versions address exactly that. For TikTok for Business logins that are locked or suspended, the first step TikTok gives is to read its notification emails. For sign-in problems, see why TikTok keeps logging you out or asking to verify.
Where ADSSPEED fits
ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles, so accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, proxies can be set per profile, profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and data stays on your own computer. It does not change what TikTok's Terms allow. Use it only with accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow TikTok's rules. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with TikTok.
Frequently asked questions
Is it bad to have multiple TikTok accounts?
TikTok's published statement is about purpose: in March 2023 it said it does not allow using multiple accounts to get around its rules or their enforcement. The Terms versions read for this guide do not state a maximum number of accounts per person, but every account must follow them.
Can you create multiple TikTok accounts?
Phone numbers are one practical limit: TikTok for Business help says one number can be tied to a single Personal or Business Account. Beyond that, each account is bound by the same Terms and Community Guidelines, including the bans on spam and impersonation accounts.
Will TikTok ban me for switching accounts?
The pages read for this guide do not name switching between accounts as a violation. The rule targets using multiple accounts to get around TikTok's rules or enforcement, and TikTok's U.S. Terms say it may ban or suspend an account if it believes the Terms or Guidelines were broken.
What happens if I open a new account after a ban?
The U.S. Terms say TikTok may ban or suspend the accounts a banned user opens afterwards. The EEA, UK and Switzerland Terms bar you from opening an account if TikTok already ended one of yours for breaking the Terms or Guidelines. Appeal the original decision instead.
Are bots or scripts allowed to run TikTok accounts?
The Terms prohibit using automated scripts, bots or software to collect data from TikTok, with exceptions only for tools TikTok provides or approves in writing in the U.S. and EEA versions. The rest-of-world version also prohibits automated scripts that interact with the Services.
Can I appeal if TikTok restricts or bans my account?
Yes. The U.S. Terms say you can appeal from inside the platform and that TikTok will then review its decision. The EEA, UK and Switzerland Terms say you can appeal and that TikTok gives access back if its action turns out to be unjustified.
