Can You Use Two YouTube Accounts at Once on the Same Computer?
Can you stay signed in to two YouTube accounts at once?
Yes, with one limit. According to Google Account Help (read 3 October 2026), if you have more than one Google Account you can sign in to several at once and switch between them without signing out and back in. YouTube then adds a rule of its own: "On YouTube, you can only use one channel at a time."
That gives you two layers. Google decides which accounts are signed in to your browser. YouTube decides which channel of the chosen account you are acting as. Keeping the two layers apart makes wrong account surprises much easier to diagnose.
Google Account, channel or Brand Account: which is which?
Three different things get called an account, and the help page you need depends on which one you mean.
| Thing | What it is | Who can use it | Where to look |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Account | The sign-in identity: email, password and verification steps | The person who owns it | myaccount.google.com |
| Channel on a personal account | Your public YouTube presence, with your Google Account's name and photo | Only you | Profile picture menu on youtube.com |
| Channel on a Brand Account | A channel with its own name and photo, linked to a Brand Account | Several Google Accounts can manage and own it | myaccount.google.com/brandaccounts |
YouTube Help's page on managing channels draws exactly this line. A Brand Account has no password of its own: its managers sign in with their own Google Accounts. One Google Account can manage several Brand Accounts connected to channels. YouTube also warns that having a Brand Account does not mean you are automatically using it.
Do you need another Google Account or just another channel?
| You want | Fits best |
|---|---|
| A second public identity for you or your team, such as another brand | Another channel from your channel list, which YouTube Help says creates a Brand Account |
| A client or colleague who should own the channel | Their own Google Account as owner, with your Google Account added under a role |
| Work and personal use kept apart | Separate Google Accounts, each in its own browser profile |
According to YouTube Help (read 3 October 2026), one Google Account can manage up to 100 channels. Every channel is subject to the same rules, so more channels means more to keep track of, not more freedom.
How do you add and switch accounts on a desktop?
- Add the Google Account. On a Google page such as google.com, select your profile image or initial at the top right, choose Add account and follow the prompts.
- Open YouTube and click your profile picture at the top right of youtube.com.
- Click Switch account and pick the account or channel you want. YouTube Help says the list shows the accounts you manage as well as your Google Account identity.
- Check the name and icon at the top right to confirm which channel you are using now.
- If the channel is not in the list, open studio.youtube.com and switch there.
- If your Google Account has several channels, YouTube may show a popup when you sign in. Pick a channel in it, or set a default channel in your advanced account settings. YouTube Help adds that third-party tools that cannot switch channels will use that default.
If you choose a Brand Account that has no channel yet, the same page says you can create one for it.
What happens when several accounts share one browser?
Every signed-in account lives in the same browser, so Google has to pick a default. Its help page says that in many cases the default account is the one you signed in with first. It also says each account keeps its own settings, but settings of the default account, such as Web & App Activity and Ads Personalization, can apply.
| Situation | What to expect | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A second Google Account is added | Both stay signed in; in many cases the first is the default | Sign in with the account you want as default first |
| You switch from the menu | The active account changes without a sign-out | Check the name and icon before you act |
| Sign out of all accounts is chosen | Every Google account in that browser is signed out | Sign in again, or use Remove an account at myaccount.google.com to drop just one |
| A channel is missing from Switch account | The account you are using is not a manager of that Brand Account | Switch at studio.youtube.com or ask an owner to add you |
Which setup fits: the switcher, separate profiles or a guest window?
The switcher is fine when you use a few accounts yourself and swap now and then. It gets fragile once many accounts or many people are involved, because everything shares one browser.
| Setup | Good for | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Account switcher in one browser | A few accounts you use occasionally | One browser and one default account |
| One browser profile per account | Keeping each account's sign-in and data apart | More profiles to name and track |
| Guest window | A one-off visit | History, cookies and site data are deleted on exit, so nothing stays signed in |
Chrome Help says a profile keeps bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings separate, and it names keeping different accounts, such as work and personal, apart as a reason to use one. Chromium's documentation describes each profile as its own folder, holding data such as history, bookmarks and cookies. Read what a browser profile is, compare it with incognito and other options, or follow the step-by-step profile setup for YouTube.
What if switching does not work?
- The channel is missing. YouTube Help's explanation is that the Google Account you are signed in with is not listed as a manager of that Brand Account. Ask an owner to add you; the guide to adding a manager shows how.
- The wrong account opens. Google says that in many cases the default is the account you signed in with first. Sign out of all accounts, then sign in again in the order you want.
- You keep being signed out. Cleared cookies, a different profile or a security alert are the first things to check; see why YouTube keeps signing you out.
- The channel popup keeps appearing. Set a default channel, as in step 6 above.
- You run many accounts for several clients. One shared browser stops being practical. Separate profiles are the next step.
Where ADSSPEED fits
ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so the YouTube accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. Profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, a proxy can be set per profile and assigned to many profiles in bulk, and profile data stays on your own computer. Android phone profiles are available too, for mobile apps on a PC. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with YouTube.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have two YouTube accounts with the same email?
One Google Account, which is tied to one email address, can manage several YouTube channels. According to YouTube Help (read 3 October 2026), you can manage up to 100 channels from one Google Account, and a new channel created from your channel list creates a Brand Account.
Can I use two YouTube accounts at once?
You can stay signed in to several Google Accounts in one browser and switch between them from the profile menu. On YouTube itself only one channel is active at a time, so you switch rather than act as two channels at the same moment.
Why is YouTube switch account not showing my channel?
YouTube Help says that when a channel is not showing, the Google Account you are signed in with is not listed as a manager of that channel's Brand Account. Try studio.youtube.com to switch channels, or ask an owner to add your account.
What is the difference between a YouTube Brand Account and a personal account?
A channel on a personal Google Account is reachable only by you and uses that account's name and photo. A channel on a Brand Account can have its own name and photo and can be managed and owned by several Google Accounts, with no separate password.
How do I manage multiple YouTube accounts on one computer?
Add each Google Account from the profile menu and use Switch account on youtube.com to pick the channel. If you want every account to stay signed in side by side, give each one its own browser profile so the sign-ins do not share one cookie store.
Why does the wrong account open when I am signed in to several accounts?
Google's help page says that in many cases the default account is the one you signed in with first, and some settings of the default account can apply. Sign out of all accounts and sign in again in the order you want, or use separate browser profiles.
