Bluesky
Can You Log In to Several Bluesky Accounts on One Computer at the Same Time?
Can you stay signed in to several Bluesky accounts on one computer?
Yes, in Bluesky's own web app. Bluesky's official account announced in January 2025 that on desktop web, clicking your profile picture opens a quick account switcher. This guide covers the web app at bsky.app in a desktop browser, and mentions the mobile apps only where Bluesky documents something different.
What Bluesky documents about switching
| Surface | What Bluesky announced | When | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Desktop web (bsky.app) | Clicking your profile picture opens a quick account switcher | 17 January 2025, version 1.96.5 | Post from @bsky.app |
| Mobile app | You can switch accounts quickly by long-pressing your profile picture in the footer | 9 October 2023, version 1.52 | Post from @bsky.app |
Bluesky's Help Center, which publicly lists ten articles (read 3 October 2026), has no article on switching accounts. The two announcements give no limit on the number of accounts and do not spell out the labels for adding one. Menus change between versions, so treat the steps below as a pattern and follow what your screen shows.
How to switch accounts on desktop web
- Open bsky.app in your browser and sign in to the first account.
- Click your profile picture. According to the January 2025 announcement, this opens the quick account switcher.
- To bring in another account, sign in to it with that account's own credentials. If email two-factor authentication is on for it, Bluesky sends a security code to that account's email address.
- Pick the account you want in the switcher, then check the handle on your profile before you post or change settings.
Each account stays a separate account with its own handle, email address and password. Bluesky's Help Center even tells people who have multiple accounts to check the handle carefully before confirming a deletion, which is a good habit for any account-level action.
What accounts share when they sit in one browser
- One browser profile means one set of stored data. Chromium's documentation lists history, bookmarks and cookies as profile data, kept in one subfolder per profile. Accounts you switch between in one profile live there together. A private window is only a temporary extra session, as the comparison with VPNs and private browsing explains.
- The switcher changes who you act as, not where you act from. The browser, the computer and the internet connection stay the same.
- Every account needs its own mailbox access. Bluesky's Help Center describes codes sent to the account's email: two-factor codes, password-reset codes and the code needed to delete an account. If you cannot read that mailbox, you cannot receive the code.
- You answer for what happens under your login. Bluesky's Terms hold you responsible for any use made through your valid login credentials, whether or not you approved it. On a computer other people use, sign out and keep a browser profile of your own.
Numbers and limits: what the pages say
| Question | What the pages read say | Where checked |
|---|---|---|
| How many accounts can be signed in at once? | No figure is published | Help Center, Terms, announcements |
| Can two accounts use the same email address? | Not stated | Help Center, Terms, Community Guidelines |
| Where do codes and resets go? | To the email address linked to each account | Help Center articles on 2FA, password reset and deletion |
| Can several people share one login? | The Terms tell you not to share your account with others | Terms of Service |
Treat any number you read elsewhere as unverified, and check Bluesky's pages again before relying on it.
Your options on one computer
| Option | What it keeps apart | Suits | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bluesky's switcher in one browser profile | Nothing in the browser: one set of stored data | A few of your own accounts, used by you alone | Shared computers; posting from the wrong account |
| One browser profile per account (Chrome, Edge) | History, bookmarks, passwords and settings of each profile | Accounts you want kept apart | More windows to manage |
| Firefox containers | Cookies, localStorage, IndexedDB and caches per container | Several sign-ins in one window | History and bookmarks stay shared |
| A third-party app | Depends on the app | Special workflows | Bluesky's Help Center says to generate an App Password to log in to third-party apps; do not hand over your main password |
The profiles guide walks through the second row. If the idea is new to you, start with what a browser profile is.
If switching does not work
- An account asks you to sign in again. Sign in with its own credentials; a code may be emailed. Read why Bluesky logs you out or asks for a code.
- The switcher does not appear. Reload the page. The Help Center's email-change article opens with a tip to refresh the app or browser before you start. On the mobile app, long-press your profile picture in the footer instead.
- You posted from the wrong account. Check the handle before every post, and move that account to its own browser profile.
- You manage more than a handful of accounts. One profile per account is easier to keep straight than one crowded switcher.
- Several people need the same account. Do not pass one login around. See team access for a Bluesky brand account.
Where ADSSPEED fits
ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. A proxy can be set per profile and assigned to many profiles in bulk. Profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and profile data stays on your own computer. Android phone profiles, each with its own device configuration, run mobile apps on a PC. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Bluesky and does not change Bluesky's rules.
Frequently asked questions
Can you have multiple accounts on Bluesky?
Bluesky's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, read on 3 October 2026, state no limit on accounts per person, and the Help Center's delete-account article includes a note for people who have multiple accounts. The rules still ban impersonation, ban evasion, spam and sharing accounts, so use each account honestly.
How do I switch accounts on Bluesky?
On desktop web, Bluesky's official account said in January 2025 (version 1.96.5) that clicking your profile picture opens a quick account switcher. On mobile, a version 1.52 post from October 2023 says you can switch by long-pressing your profile picture in the footer.
Can you have two Bluesky accounts with the same email?
The Terms of Service, Community Guidelines and Help Center articles read for this guide do not say. They do show that codes go to each account's email: two-factor codes, password resets and deletion codes. Use an address you can read for each account, and ask support@bsky.app if you are unsure.
How do I add a second account on Bluesky?
Bluesky's announcements describe the switcher but not the exact add-account labels, so follow what your screen shows. Sign in to the second account with that account's own credentials, and enter any two-factor code that Bluesky emails to that account's address.
Why can't I switch accounts on Bluesky?
Bluesky does not publish troubleshooting for the switcher. Check that the account's sign-in has not ended, reload the page, and confirm you are in the browser profile where you added the account. If the problem stays, write to support@bsky.app with the account's handle.
