Can You Log In to Multiple Instagram Accounts on One Computer at the Same Time?

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 6 min read

Can you stay signed in to several Instagram accounts on one computer?

Yes. On instagram.com, Instagram's own Switch accounts feature keeps several accounts signed in, and its Help Center (read 3 October 2026) says up to ten accounts can be logged in at one time. This article covers the website in a desktop browser. The Help Center article describes the website and the mobile app, not a separate desktop program.

How to add and switch accounts on instagram.com

  1. Go to instagram.com and log in to your first account.
  2. In the bottom left, click More, then click Switch accounts.
  3. Enter the username and password of the account you want to add, then click Log in.
  4. To change account later, open More, then Switch accounts, and click the account you want.

Each account needs its own username and password. The Help Center is clear that you log in with the credentials of the account you are logging in to. If Instagram offers to save your login info, saving it means you will not type it again next time. Menu names can differ from person to person, because Instagram says it is gradually moving everyone to Meta Accounts, so Settings may show either Accounts Center or Meta Account settings.

What accounts share when they sit in one browser

Switching is convenient, but it is not separation. Four things worth knowing:

  • Switching changes the active account for the whole browser profile. Chromium's documentation lists cookies among the data stored per profile, so every tab and window of one profile uses the same sign-in. Two different accounts open in two windows at the same moment need separate cookie storage, which is what separate profiles provide.
  • Two Help Center pages use different wording. One says up to ten accounts can be logged in at one time. Another, about saved logins on a device, says you can only be logged in to a single Instagram account at a time while the device stores login details for several. That page's steps cover iPhone and Android. Either way, expect one account to be the active one in a given browser profile.
  • The browser remembers the accounts. Instagram's login help says an account can appear as a login choice because it was recently logged in on the same device, or because it sits in the same Accounts Center as another account and is allowed to log in to it. On a shared computer, the next person may see those accounts.
  • Accounts Center connects accounts. Instagram's Help Center says that from early 2026 every account in the same Accounts Center can be used to log in to the others by default. Meta's help page adds that Meta combines your info across accounts in the same Accounts Center. After you remove an account it stops combining within 7 days, but information already combined stays combined. If you use an existing Facebook or Instagram account to create a new Instagram account, both go into the same Accounts Center.

Which accounts Instagram treats as connected is Instagram's own decision. This guide only describes the settings its pages document.

Numbers worth knowing

The pages cited here do not state an overall cap on how many accounts one person may own. They give the limits above, and the Help Center can change them, so check the page if a number matters to you.

Your options on one computer

OptionWhat it keeps apartSuitsWatch for
Switch accounts in one browser profileNothing: one browser, one set of cookies and saved loginsA few of your own accounts, used by you aloneShared computers; Accounts Center links
One browser profile per account (Chrome, Edge)Cookies, site data, history, bookmarks and saved passwords of each profileAccounts that should not share one login listMore windows to manage; every profile still runs on the same computer and connection
Firefox containersCookies, local storage, IndexedDB and caches per container, in one windowSeveral logins to one site in a single windowHistory and bookmarks stay shared
Access from the account owner (shared access, roles)Each person signs in with their own accountAccounts you manage for a brand or clientAvailability depends on eligibility

The profiles guide walks through the second row, and the business access guide covers the last one. If the idea is new to you, start with what a browser profile is. A private window is only a temporary extra session, as the comparison with VPNs and private browsing explains.

If switching does not work

  1. An account asks for its password again, or has vanished from the list. Its sign-in ended. Instagram's help says that once a password is updated you are logged out of all other devices, so a changed password is one reason. Log in again with the current password and read why Instagram signs you out.
  2. The menu does not match these steps. Look for Accounts Center or Meta Account settings under Settings, since Instagram says people are moved to Meta Accounts gradually.
  3. A code or confirmation screen appears. Follow it. The sign-in checks guide explains what Instagram's help pages say about these prompts.
  4. You work with more than ten accounts. Ten is the Help Center's figure for being logged in at once. Split the accounts across separate browser profiles instead of stretching one browser.
  5. Several people share one login. Do not. Give each person access through Instagram's own tools.

Where ADSSPEED fits

ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. A proxy can be set per profile, and assigned to many profiles in bulk. Profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and profile data stays on your own computer. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Instagram and does not change Instagram's rules.

Frequently asked questions

Can you log into multiple Instagram accounts on a computer?

Yes. On instagram.com, click More in the bottom left, choose Switch accounts, enter the other account's username and password, and click Log in. Instagram's Help Center says up to ten accounts can be logged in at one time.

How many Instagram accounts can you have on one device?

The Help Center's figure is ten accounts logged in at one time. The pages used for this guide do not state an overall cap on how many accounts one person may own, but they do say one email address can be associated with up to five Instagram accounts.

Why is Instagram's switch accounts option not working on desktop?

Check the sourced causes first: that account's sign-in may have ended, because updating a password logs you out of all other devices, or you may be at the ten-account limit. Menus can also differ, because Instagram says it is gradually moving people to Meta Accounts.

How many Instagram accounts can you have with the same email?

According to Instagram's Help Center (read 3 October 2026), an email address can only be associated with up to five Instagram accounts. If someone tries to use your email to log in or create an account, Instagram says you receive an email about it.

Do Instagram accounts in the same Accounts Center log in to each other?

Yes, by default. Instagram's Help Center says that from early 2026 the separate 'Logging in with accounts' setting is gone and any account in the same Accounts Center can be used to log in to the others. Moving an account out of the Accounts Center disables that login access.
