Twitch Multiple Accounts Rules: What Is Allowed and What Counts as Ban Evasion

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 6 min read

Can you have more than one Twitch account under Twitch's rules?

Yes, with conditions. Twitch's Creating an Account page (read 3 October 2026) says you may open further accounts whenever you like, provided you keep to the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, and that each account is held to those guidelines. The pages read describe limits per email address and per phone number rather than one overall figure. The rest of this guide takes the rules in turn: what is allowed, what is forbidden, what happens when a line is crossed and what you can do about it.

Twitch's glossary describes ban evasion as getting back onto Twitch after a suspension by opening a new account or using someone else's. By that definition, having a second account is not ban evasion in itself; the offence is using accounts to get around an enforcement.

How do the phone and email limits work in practice?

Email. When you verify the email on an account, Twitch turns off creating further accounts with that address as a protection against abusive behaviour aimed at you. The Enable additional account creation (Email) setting lets you register a single additional account.

Phone. The Safety Center's chat-verification page (published 29 September 2021, read 3 October 2026) says people have many reasons to manage more than one account, so up to five accounts can be verified per phone number. It adds, as a measure against ban evasion, that if one phone-verified account is suspended site-wide, all accounts tied to that number are suspended site-wide. At channel level, if one phone-verified or email-verified account is banned by a channel, the other accounts tied to the same number or email are banned from chatting there too. A number tied to an actively suspended account cannot be used to verify additional accounts.

In plain terms, accounts that share a phone number or email can share each other's fate. The Help Center's phone page says the same number can be added to more than one account without stating a limit.

What happens if a rule is broken?

StepWhat Twitch says
WarningA courtesy notice for some violations; related content may also be removed
Chatting suspensionTemporary, between 24 hours and 30 days; features lost include chatting on other channels, Whispers, Cheering and Channel Points
Streaming suspensionTemporary, between 24 hours and 30 days; features lost include going live, Stories, Stream Together and VOD uploads
Indefinite suspensionFor the most serious offences, or after several temporary suspensions; no watching, going live, chatting or creating other accounts

Twitch says lower-severity violations expire after 90 days and higher-severity ones after 1 or 2 years, and that repeating a violation in the same policy category before the first one expires means longer suspensions. It notifies the account holder by email, and the reason is visible in the Appeals Portal.

What can you do if you think it was a mistake?

  • Account enforcement. Appeals go through the portal at appeals.twitch.tv. Twitch says only the account's owner may appeal, that you can appeal for up to six months after the enforcement, and that suspensions of 30 days or less allow one appeal per enforcement. Reinstatement after an indefinite suspension can be requested after at least six months.
  • Channel ban. Contact the channel owner or an appointed moderator. Twitch says owners and moderators may ban anyone from their channel for any reason, that it will not help reverse channel bans, and that an Unban Request is available where the channel has enabled it.
  • Flagged by a channel's detection tool. Twitch's Suspicious User Controls page says Ban Evasion Detection uses machine learning to flag possible or likely evaders of channel bans. By default likely evaders are restricted and possible ones monitored, and moderators can remove the flag. The feature covers channel bans only, not Twitch's site-wide suspensions. Twitch's 2021 post says machine learning is not perfect, so mistakes are possible, and that the creator and mods make the final call.

How do you stay inside the rules with several accounts?

  • Give each account a clear purpose and make sure you own it or are authorised to manage it.
  • Never open another account to carry on after a suspension or channel ban. The guidelines name that as the offence, and the appeal routes above are the legitimate path.
  • Do not hand an account or its login to someone else. Use channel roles instead; see Twitch roles for teams.
  • Keep each account's email, phone and recovery details current, remembering that shared numbers and emails can link outcomes.
  • Do not use extra accounts to inflate follows, viewers or rewards.
  • Read enforcement emails and check the Appeals Portal, which lists violations and when they expire.

Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow Twitch's rules. For the practical side of switching and keeping accounts apart, see staying signed in to two accounts and what a browser profile is.

Where ADSSPEED fits

ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles, so each Twitch account you are entitled to manage can have its own cookies, local data and browser settings and stay signed in beside the others. Profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and profile data stays on your own computer. It does not change Twitch's rules: a suspension, a channel ban or a rule against sharing applies to the account however it is opened. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Twitch.

Frequently asked questions

Does Twitch allow multiple accounts?

Yes. Twitch's Help Center says you may open further accounts at any time, provided you keep to the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Twitch forbids using accounts to evade a suspension, and its guidelines list selling or sharing user accounts as prohibited conduct.

How many accounts can you have on Twitch?

The Help Center pages read give limits per email and per phone number, not one overall figure. A setting lets you register a single additional account on a verified email, and a Safety Center page says up to five accounts can be verified per phone number.

What counts as ban evasion on Twitch?

Twitch's glossary describes it as getting back onto Twitch after a suspension by opening a new account or using someone else's. The Community Guidelines say trying to get around a suspension or chat ban with other accounts brings additional enforcement, up to an indefinite suspension.

What happens to my other accounts if one is suspended and they share a phone number?

Twitch's Safety Center says that if one phone-verified account is suspended site-wide, all accounts tied to that number are suspended site-wide. At channel level, a ban on one phone- or email-verified account also bans the other accounts tied to it from chatting there.

Can I appeal a Twitch suspension?

Yes. Twitch points to its appeals portal at appeals.twitch.tv, where only the account's owner may appeal and enforcements can be appealed for up to six months. Channel bans differ: contact the channel owner or a moderator, because Twitch says it will not help reverse them.

Is it allowed to share a Twitch account with a teammate?

Twitch's Community Guidelines list selling or sharing user accounts among prohibited conduct. For teams, Twitch provides channel roles such as Editor, Moderator and Business Manager in the Roles Manager, so each person uses their own account.

What does Twitch say about alt accounts after a channel ban?

Twitch's Ban Evasion Detection flags possible or likely evaders of channel bans for that channel's moderators, who can monitor, restrict or remove the flag. Twitch says the tool is not perfect, and it will not step in to reverse a channel ban.
