Why Does Dailymotion Keep Logging Me Out or Asking for a Verification Code?
Why does Dailymotion log you out or say your login is not working?
Dailymotion's own pages point to a few documented causes: sign-in cookies that a browser clears or that two accounts overwrite, an expired email code, a password that no longer meets the policy, a company sign-in requirement, an archived inactive account, or a sanctioned account. The table below matches each to its fix. According to Dailymotion's Help Center and Cookie Policy (read 3 October 2026), the pages describe no unusual-login or new-location screen, and none describes a sign-out-everywhere control.
| What you see | What Dailymotion's pages say | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A 6-digit code screen after signing up with email | New email accounts must be confirmed. A code is valid for 3 hours, only the newest code works, and an account left unconfirmed for 30 days is deleted | Log in again to reopen the code screen, use Resend code, and check Junk for mail mentioning Dailymotion |
| Login refused on an older account | The password policy asks for 8 characters or more with a letter, a number and a symbol, and says a password that does not meet it no longer works | Use Forgot password? and set a compliant password |
| You cannot reach the account's email | Dailymotion has no access to your password and cannot recover it. The reset link goes to the account's email | Contact Dailymotion Support |
| Signed out of one account after using another | The Cookie Policy lists authentication cookies in your browser, and Chromium's documentation counts cookies as part of each browser profile's data | One account per browser profile |
| Sent to your company's sign-in | If the owner switched on Make SSO required, assigned users must sign in through SSO | Use the company sign-in, or ask the owner |
| A code request inside Studio | A 6-digit code goes to the registered email when a payment method is connected or disconnected, valid for 10 minutes | Enter the code, or choose Send new code |
| An old account will not open | Accounts with no activity for over a year may be archived, and an archived account cannot log in | Contact Support from the linked email while it is archived |
| Account deactivated or suspended | The Terms allow deactivation for breaking them, and the email about a decision carries an appeal link | Use the appeal form |
What do Dailymotion's sign-in cookies have to do with it?
Dailymotion's Cookie Policy (updated 28 May 2026) lists first-party cookies on dailymotion.com that allow authentication of a user, among them access_token, with a stated lifespan of 10 hours; refresh_token, 3 months, described as used to ensure account security; and sdx, a session cookie. The policy adds that a browser may shorten a cookie's lifespan and that some trackers can show up as session cookies. So if your browser is set to clear cookies when it closes, or to limit how long they last, your sign-in goes with them.
The same logic explains clashes between accounts. Chromium's documentation says each profile is a subdirectory of the user data directory, which holds profile data such as history, bookmarks and cookies, so a browser profile has one set of Dailymotion cookies and can hold one signed-in Dailymotion account at a time. A private window is a different tool, covered in the comparison guide. A separate browser profile per account removes the clash; the steps are in the browser profiles guide.
How do you get back in, step by step?
- Read what the screen asks for: a password, a 6-digit code or a company sign-in. They have different fixes.
- Password. On the login screen click Forgot password?, enter the account email, click Reset password, open the emailed link and set a new password.
- Code. Go to dailymotion.com and log in with your credentials; the code screen reopens. Type the 6-digit code from the email, or choose Resend code. Each new code replaces the previous one.
- No code, or no access to the email. Check the Junk folder, then contact Dailymotion Support. For missing codes the Help Center asks you to write from the email address linked to the account.
- Wrong email at sign-up. Start the sign-up again. The first account created with the mistyped address is deleted automatically after 30 days.
What if the account was archived, sanctioned or deleted?
- Archived for inactivity. The inactive-account policy says Dailymotion may delete or take back an account that has seen no activity for more than a year, without warning. It is archived first, and after a further year in the archive it is permanently deleted. Accounts with uploaded content or active API keys are not affected.
- Sanctioned. The Terms say that failing to comply can lead to removed content, a deactivated account, a blocked embeddable player or removed account data. When Dailymotion finishes moderating a case, it emails you a link to a dedicated appeal form.
- How to appeal. The appeal page says you have 6 months from the decision, each decision can be appealed only once, and incomplete or unfounded appeals cannot be processed. You can then turn to an independent out-of-court dispute body, and your right to go to court remains.
- Use the official route. The Help Center does not describe opening another account as a way to restore access, so appeal rather than starting over. The rules guide lists what Dailymotion restricts.
Which checks does Dailymotion actually document?
Three prompts appear in the pages read, and each is something to complete rather than work around. New email accounts must confirm the address with a code, and some features such as comments and uploads in the app may stay unavailable until then. Anyone connecting or disconnecting a payment method in Studio gets a 6-digit email code, and only the Organization Owner can manage payment methods. Organizations with Single Sign-On route their users through the company sign-in, and users created through just-in-time provisioning have no password on dailymotion.com, so they cannot log in if SSO is turned off. If a prompt does not match any of these, contact Support with the exact wording on screen. The multi-login guide covers how to run more than one account day to day.
Where ADSSPEED fits
One possible cause of sign-out clashes is two accounts sharing one browser profile. ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. It does not replace Dailymotion's own recovery steps (password reset, codes, Support, the appeal form) and does not change how Dailymotion treats an account. Profile data is kept on your own computer. For the basics, read what a browser profile is. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Dailymotion.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I log in to Dailymotion?
Dailymotion's pages describe a short list of causes: a password that no longer meets the password policy, an email code that expired, a company sign-in required by SSO, an archived inactive account, or a sanctioned account. Match your screen to that list and use the matching fix.
Why does Dailymotion keep logging me out?
Sign-in is held by browser cookies. The Cookie Policy lists access_token (10 hours), refresh_token (3 months) and sdx (a session cookie), and says a browser may shorten lifespans. Two accounts in one browser profile also share the same cookies, so use one profile per account.
How do I reset my Dailymotion password?
On the login screen click Forgot password?, enter the account email, click Reset password and open the emailed link. The new password needs at least 8 characters with a letter, a number and a symbol. Dailymotion says it has no access to your password and cannot recover it.
Where is my Dailymotion verification code?
Check the email address on the account, including the Junk folder. Codes last 3 hours (10 minutes for payout changes in Studio) and only the newest one works. Log in again to reopen the code screen, then use Resend code. If nothing arrives, contact Dailymotion Support.
Does Dailymotion have two-factor authentication (2FA)?
The pages read describe an email code for new email accounts, a 6-digit email code whenever a payment method is connected or disconnected in Studio, and SSO for Organizations that use it. They do not describe a general two-step sign-in setting, so ask Dailymotion Support if you need one.
Why is my Dailymotion account deactivated?
The pages read give two documented reasons: breaking the Terms or the Prohibited Content Policy, and long inactivity. After moderation Dailymotion emails a link to an appeal form (6 months, one appeal per decision). Inactive accounts are archived after a year and can be re-enabled through Support only while archived.
