What Are LINE's Rules for Multiple Accounts? Terms, Help Center and Suspensions Explained

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 6 min read

Can you have more than one LINE account?

LINE's pages do not publish a number, and they do not put a flat ban on a second account in so many words. They set conditions. In its smartphone Help Center article on creating another account, LINE says: "Only one LINE account is meant to be used per device." Anyone who wants several accounts registers them with different information and uses them on separate devices.

The Terms add a warning: if you have registered several accounts, measures may be taken on all of them when one of the listed grounds applies (Common Terms of Use, Article 17). This article reports what LINE's documents said when read on 3 October 2026. It is not legal advice, and the documents can change.

The Terms page shows the Common Terms as revised on 3 February 2025. It also links a separate document called LINE Terms and Conditions of Use. This article does not cover that document, so read it as well.

What the Terms prohibit, in plain words

Article 15 lists the matters to observe when using the services. These items matter most when several accounts share one computer or one team:

  • Operating the services wrongfully with bots, cheat tools or other technical means (item 5).
  • Sending the same or similar messages to a large, indefinite number of users, unless LINE has approved it (item 9).
  • Sales, publicity, advertising, solicitation or any other act for profit, excluding what LINE has approved (item 11).
  • Using the services through another user's account (item 12).
  • Misrepresenting LINE or a third party, or deliberately spreading false information (item 13).
  • Acquiring accounts or passwords from other people, or handing yours to others (item 14).

Item 11 matters to businesses: selling or advertising from a personal account is on the list unless LINE approves it. LINE's product for businesses is LINE Official Account, covered in the guide to team access.

What can happen when a rule is broken

Under Article 17, LINE may act without prior notice. The grounds include a violation of the law, the Terms or the individual conditions, or a risk of one; damage to LINE's credibility; use by anti-social forces; an account or service left unused for one year or longer, except in cases set out in the individual conditions; and any other case where LINE reasonably decides that continuing the contract is difficult.

LINE's Help Center describes suspensions of features and of whole accounts. The reasons it lists are serious violations such as fraud, misconduct or impersonation; continuous and malicious spam or harassment; no improvement after repeated suspensions; and other behaviour with a serious effect on the safe running of the service.

What you might seeWhat LINE says
Messages will not send to anyone although the connection is fineThe cause may be a suspension for use that breaks the Terms. LINE lists standards such as abusive or obscene content, exchanging personal information or repeatedly inviting people to meet, unlawful acts, targeting minors for inappropriate meetings, and spamming, for example many stickers or posts in a row within a short time
You cannot add friends or search for themLINE says it may be a suspension for a certain period for breaking the Terms, in which case it suggests waiting one or two days. Searches can also be restricted after too many searches or repeated wrong LINE IDs or phone numbers, and LINE says there are limits, without figures, on how many accounts you can add and how many can add you
You cannot log in or use the accountLINE says a suspended account can lose messaging, friend search and adding, calls and login. A sign-out has other causes, see the article on logouts
An account that nobody usesOne year or longer without use is one of the grounds in Article 17

Staying inside the rules: a short checklist

  1. Give each account its own registration details and, as LINE describes, its own device.
  2. Keep every password and verification code to yourself. Nobody else should sign in as you, and you should not sign in as anyone else.
  3. Give colleagues access the way LINE provides for it, through LINE Official Account administrators, not through a shared personal login.
  4. Leave bots, scripts and other automation of LINE alone. The Terms prohibit operating the services wrongfully with them.
  5. Use each account now and then, because a year of non-use is a ground for measures.

If your account is restricted or suspended

  1. If messages will not send, check the connection first. LINE lists a poor connection as the other possible cause.
  2. Read LINE's page on suspensions, and expect no details: LINE says it cannot give its criteria or the reasons for its decisions.
  3. If you believe the suspension was a mistake, write through LINE's inquiry form, as the owner of the account. For a message-sending suspension LINE says its reply repeats the Help article and cannot lift the suspension.
  4. Do not open another account to carry on. The Terms say measures can be taken on all the accounts you registered, and the route LINE names is the inquiry form.
  5. Be wary of emails that promise to lift a restriction. LINE says its official emails come only from addresses ending in @line.me, and that requests for your registered information or verification code are scams.

Business accounts have their own rules

LINE Official Account has its own Terms of Use, shown with an effective date of 3 April 2024, and Guidelines, shown as the version of 1 October 2026. The Terms list assigning, lending or sharing an account with a third party among prohibited acts, and let LINE suspend or end the service on listed grounds without notification. The Guidelines list the penalties as deletion of content, suspension of the service and annulment of the service contract, and say LINE need not give reasons for them.

Where ADSSPEED fits

ADSSPEED does not change LINE's rules or remove any limit in them. It is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. For LINE's browser tools, such as LINE Official Account Manager, one profile per account keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. Profile data stays on your own computer. See what a browser profile is.

Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow LINE's rules. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with LINE.

Frequently asked questions

Can you have more than one LINE account?

LINE's pages say an account is meant to be used one per device, that several accounts need different registration information on separate devices, and that if you have registered several accounts, measures may be taken on all of them when a listed ground applies. They give no flat number.

Can I make 2 LINE accounts?

LINE's Help Center says a phone number, email address, Apple ID or Google account can be registered to only one LINE account at a time. A second account therefore needs its own details and, in LINE's wording, its own device. Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage.

Why is my LINE account suspended for no reason?

LINE says it cannot disclose its criteria or the reason for an individual suspension. Its pages list serious violations such as fraud or impersonation, continuous and malicious spam or harassment, and no improvement after repeated suspensions. If you believe it was a mistake, use the inquiry form.

Is a banned LINE account the same as a suspended one?

LINE's Help Center speaks of suspensions rather than bans. It describes suspensions of features, such as sending messages or searching for friends, and of the whole account, which can be temporary or permanent. According to LINE, a permanent suspension is never lifted.

How long is a LINE account temporarily suspended?

LINE gives no length. It says a temporary suspension may be lifted after a certain amount of time has passed, a permanent one never is, and it cannot send individual replies about when a suspension will end or what criteria were used.
