Why Does LINE for PC Keep Logging Me Out or Ask for a Verification Code?
Why does LINE for PC keep logging me out or asking for a verification code?
Because LINE treats a computer as a sub device of an account that lives on a phone, and it signs that sub device out, or asks the phone to confirm it, in a handful of documented situations. The table below lists the reasons LINE's Help Center gives for an unexpected sign-out. The sections after it cover the verification code and what to do if a sign-in was not yours.
This page is based on LINE's Help Center, read on 3 October 2026. The sign-out list is written for sub devices in general (iPad, Android, Windows, Mac and Chrome), so it covers LINE for PC, the desktop app. LINE does not say how long an idle period has to be before it signs you out.
The documented reasons for a sign-out, and what to do
| What LINE lists as the cause | What it means in practice | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The account was signed in from a different sub device | Another sub device took over the sign-in | Sign in again. If it was not you, check Devices (see below) |
| The email address, password or phone number was changed on the main device | The details LINE for PC held no longer match | Sign in again with the new details |
| The PC was signed out through Devices on the main device | Someone used the Devices list on the phone | Sign in again, and find out who did it |
| The account on the main device was deleted or transferred | The account is no longer where LINE for PC expects it | Sign in again if the account still exists |
| The device unlock method was turned off on the main device | LINE lists this as a cause | Sign in again |
| A network error or glitch | A connection problem | Check the connection, then sign in again |
| LINE for PC sat idle | LINE gives no length of time | Sign in again |
LINE's stated fix for all of these is to sign in again. One related error is different: if sign-in fails with a message about the Allow login setting, turn that setting on at Home tab > Settings > Account on the main device.
The verification code: when it appears and where to type it
LINE says a verification code may appear on the PC the first time you sign in to LINE for PC, or after you reinstall LINE. The code is typed on the main device, not on the PC.
- Sign in on the PC with a QR code, biometric information or the account's email address and password.
- When the code appears on the PC, open LINE on the main device, enter the code and tap Verify.
- Do it within three minutes.
- If the entry screen does not appear on the phone, restart LINE on the main device and sign in on the PC again.
- If the QR code has expired, click the regenerate icon and use the new code.
LINE Official Account Manager, LINE's browser tool for businesses, works in a similar way when you log in with a LINE account: a four-digit code shows on the computer and is entered in the LINE app, for the LINE account whose email address and password you used.
LINE's scam page says that requests for your LINE-registered information or a verification code are scams. Enter a code only in the LINE app on your own phone.
A login notice from LINE that you did not expect
LINE says the message from the account named LINE comes from an official account operated by LINE, and is sent when your account is transferred or tries to log in to LINE services. If the notice matches a sign-in you just made, it is the message LINE describes. If it does not, LINE's article on a possibly taken-over account lists these steps while you can still use LINE:
- Change your password.
- Turn off Allow login. LINE says a sub device such as LINE for PC needs this setting to be on.
- On the main device open Home tab > Settings > Account > Devices, and sign out any device you do not recognise, or choose Log out from all services. LINE's Devices page adds that you should then change the password.
- Unsend any messages you did not mean to send.
LINE says it only accepts inquiries from the owner of the account and, in principle, not on behalf of family, friends or other people. For Business ID logins to LINE Official Account Manager, see the guide to team access.
Signed out of the phone app, or suspended?
If the LINE app on the phone shows a screen saying you have been logged out of your account, LINE gives three possible causes: the status of the phone number, verifying the phone number on another device, or someone accessing the account without authorisation. LINE adds that registering the same phone number to a different LINE account deletes the account it was originally registered with.
To get back in, tap Re-login. LINE offers Continue with Apple or Continue with Google; logging in with the phone number and password if you still use the number registered to the account; logging in with an email address if you registered one and remember the password; and its inquiry form if none of these works.
A suspension is different. LINE's pages say a suspended account can lose sending and receiving messages, searching for and adding friends, calls and logging in. The reasons LINE lists are serious violations such as fraud, misconduct or impersonation; continuous and malicious spam or harassment; no improvement after repeated suspensions; and other behaviour with a serious effect on the safe running of the service. LINE says it cannot give its criteria or the reason for an individual decision. The rules article covers what the Terms say.
When none of this fixes it
- Update LINE. LINE links QR code sign-in errors to an app that is not up to date.
- Check the connection. LINE lists network problems as a cause of both failed and dropped sign-ins.
- Check Allow login on the main device.
- Be wary of messages about suspension. LINE's scam page warns about fraudulent emails that claim an account will be suspended or frozen and ask for identity documents, and says its official emails come only from addresses ending in @line.me.
- Write to LINE through the inquiry form in the Help Center, from the owner of the account.
Where ADSSPEED fits
Several accounts on one PC means several sign-ins that can end for the reasons above. ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. For LINE's browser tools, such as LINE Official Account Manager, one profile per account has its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. LINE for PC is a desktop app and sits outside browser profiles. Profile data stays on your computer. See what a browser profile is.
Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow LINE's rules. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with LINE.
Frequently asked questions
Why does LINE ask for a verification code on PC?
LINE says a verification code may appear on the PC at your first sign-in to LINE for PC or after you reinstall LINE. Enter it in LINE on your main device within three minutes. If the entry screen does not appear on the phone, restart LINE there and sign in on the PC again.
How do I log out of LINE on a computer from my phone?
On the main device open Home tab > Settings > Account > Devices and tap Log out next to the PC. Log out from all services signs out every device using LINE services. On the PC itself, use the settings menu at the bottom of the main menu and click Log out.
Why does LINE login fail?
LINE's Help Center names mistyped email or password details, the Allow login setting being off, network problems and QR code errors from an out-of-date app. Paste the details from a notepad, turn on Allow login, check the connection and update LINE.
What should I do if my LINE account was hacked?
While you can still use LINE, its steps are to change the password, turn off Allow login, check Devices and sign out any device you do not recognise, and unsend messages you did not send. LINE only accepts inquiries from the owner of the account.
How do I fix a suspended LINE account?
LINE says it cannot give its criteria or the reason for a suspension, and that a temporary one may lift after some time while a permanent one never does. If you believe it was a mistake, use LINE's inquiry form. The Terms say measures can be taken on all accounts you registered, so a new account is not a way out.
