Can You Have Two Strava Accounts? What Strava's Terms and Policies Say
Does Strava allow more than one account per person?
No. Strava's rules ask for one personal account per person, and they say so in more than one place. In the Terms of Service (read 3 October 2026; the page shows an effective date of 28 September 2026), Section 2 lists what you agree to when you create an account. You provide accurate and current information, you agree "to create only one account for your personal use", you do not share the account or the Strava subscription with others, and the activities on the account reflect authentic activities done by you.
The Help Center repeats the point from two angles. Its page on the athlete Verified badge asks for just one Strava account, and its page on duplicates says a single email address can only be associated with one account.
There is no number to look up, because the rule is one. Teams and brands have other routes, covered in the business guide.
What do Strava's documents forbid, in plain words?
| Behaviour | Where Strava states it | Plain reading |
|---|---|---|
| More than one personal account | Terms of Service, Section 2 | One account per person |
| Sharing your account or subscription with others | Terms of Service, Section 2 | Each person needs their own account |
| Business-related use | Terms of Service, Section 12 | Not allowed unless Strava agrees in writing |
| Creating accounts in bulk | Acceptable Use Policy, spam and inauthentic behaviour | Prohibited |
| Opening a new account after a suspension | Acceptable Use Policy, same section | Listed as a way to get around an enforcement action |
| Impersonating a person, company or brand | Acceptable Use Policy, same section | Prohibited |
| Posting activities that are not yours, or manipulating leaderboard data | Terms Section 2 and the Acceptable Use Policy | Prohibited |
| Automated access, scripts, or extensions that get around limits on kudos and comments | Acceptable Use Policy and Terms Section 19 | Prohibited |
The Acceptable Use Policy shows an effective date of 2 July 2025. Strava's Community Standards add a plain expectation: represent yourself authentically on Strava and avoid unsolicited or repetitive posting meant to gain followers or attention.
What if you already have two accounts?
Strava's Help Center describes a merge-or-delete route. It works on the website only, not in the mobile app.
- Find the right account. The page suggests trying every email you may have used, including Googlemail instead of Gmail, a different country ending such as .com versus .co.uk, and an Apple proxy address if you signed in with Apple.
- Nothing to keep on the duplicate? The Help Center describes deleting it, and warns that the team cannot recover a deleted account.
- Activities worth keeping? Sign in to the account you move data from, bulk-export it, sign in to the account you keep and upload the unzipped files. Only activity data can be moved, not manually entered activities. Subscribers can select up to 25 files at a time and other athletes up to 15. Then delete the duplicate.
- Landed on an empty account after a Google login? The Help Center says not to delete it: use another login option and contact Support with a link to your profile.
- Subscription on the wrong account? Send a ticket with the receipt and the emails of your current and previous accounts.
What happens when Strava thinks a rule was broken?
The Acceptable Use Policy describes a range of responses that depends on the violation: taking content down or limiting features, a warning, a temporary suspension, and a permanent suspension for the most serious cases. It adds that Strava weighs the context, the intent, the risk of harm and any history of repeat violations, and that it may use automated detection to surface or block content. Section 27 of the Terms adds that, in some circumstances, Strava may suspend or terminate an account immediately and without prior notice. The appeal steps, as the Acceptable Use Policy and the Help Center described them on 3 October 2026, are these.
| Step | What Strava's pages say |
|---|---|
| Where to start | Follow the steps in the email you received. If you have lost access, write to Strava directly to request an appeal |
| How long you have | Up to six months after the date of the decision |
| What to send | Why you are appealing, plus any background that helps Strava follow your case |
| Who reviews | A person re-reads the original decision against Strava's policies. Typical outcomes: the appeal is accepted, Strava asks for more detail, or the appeal is turned down |
| What to expect | The reply arrives in the appeals email. The Help Center adds that an appeal does not promise the decision will be reversed |
Opening a new account to carry on after a suspension is not an appeal. The policy lists getting around an enforcement action, for example by creating a new account after being suspended, as a violation, so the appeal route above is the legitimate one.
How do you stay inside the rules with a household or a team?
- One person, one account, one email address. If two people share a computer, each uses their own account, ideally in a separate browser profile.
- No shared passwords. The Terms make you responsible for all activity under your account or from your devices, and ask you to tell Strava at once about unauthorised use.
- Share a subscription the way Strava describes. Its Family Plan covers the owner and up to three other members, who must not already be subscribers and must live in the same country as the owner.
- Use clubs for groups. Owners and admins hold roles on their own accounts; see the club roles guide.
- Ask before using Strava for business. The Terms require Strava's written agreement; the Help Center sends general business requests to business.strava.com.
- Keep every activity your own. Do not post activities you did not complete or touch leaderboard data.
- Keep recovery details current. If you lose access to your email, contact Support. The login errors guide lists the recovery pages.
Where ADSSPEED fits
ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles, each with its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so the accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. Profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and profile data stays on your own computer. A proxy can be set per profile and assigned to many profiles in bulk. None of this changes what Strava allows: one personal account per person, no sharing, and no use of tools to get around its rules. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Strava.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have 2 Strava accounts?
Strava's Terms of Service (read 3 October 2026) ask for one account per person for personal use, and the Help Center adds that one email address can only be tied to one account. If you ended up with two, merge the activity data on the website and delete the duplicate.
Can you share a Strava account?
The Terms ask you not to share your account or your Strava subscription with others, and they make you responsible for everything that happens under your account. The Help Center describes a Family Plan that covers the owner and up to three other members.
Why is my Strava account suspended?
Strava says it may act on accounts found to be in violation of its Terms of Service or Community Standards, and the Acceptable Use Policy lists what is not allowed. The steps to appeal are in the email you received, and you can appeal up to six months after the decision.
Does Strava ban people for having two accounts?
The pages read name no specific penalty for a second account. Strava says its response depends on the violation and can run from a warning through a temporary suspension to a permanent one in serious cases, and that you can appeal in most circumstances.
How do I recover my Strava account?
It depends on the cause. For a forgotten password use Strava's recovery page. If you lost access to the email address, contact Support. If the account was suspended, request an appeal through the steps in the enforcement email, within six months of the decision.
Is a business account allowed on Strava?
Strava's Terms limit the Services to personal use and make business use depend on Strava's written agreement. General business requests go through the Get in Touch option on business.strava.com, and the Help Center says its Help Desk cannot handle them.
