Can You Use Two Viber Accounts on One Computer? What Viber Desktop Allows

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 6 min read

Can you use two Viber accounts on one computer?

Not with the desktop app as Viber documents it. According to Viber's Help Center (read 3 October 2026), Viber Desktop works as a secondary device linked to the one Viber account on your phone, and the desktop pages describe no way to add a second account to the same app. Viber's Terms of Service also list creating multiple accounts among the actions users may not take, which the rules guide walks through.

What the Help Center does describe is one account used on several devices. If two people need Viber on one computer, each uses their own account on their own phone. Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow Viber's rules.

Which situation are you in?

SituationWhat Viber's pages document
One person, phone plus laptopLink the laptop as a secondary device with a QR code
Phone, tablet and computerOne primary device and any number of secondary devices
A shared or public computerViber says to deactivate after using a public computer; the next person links their own account
A brand or team voiceCommunities and Channels with admins, or a small business account on one phone number
A second account for the same personNo supported route is described, and the Terms restrict creating multiple accounts

Viber's download page says Viber for Desktop is synced to your mobile account and that you need an active Viber account on your phone to activate it. The Help Center's supported-platforms page lists Windows 10 (64-bit, version 1607 or newer) and Windows 11, macOS 11 (Big Sur) and later, and 64-bit Fedora and Ubuntu, with limited updates and support on Linux. Those are installed apps; neither page lists a browser version.

The desktop set-up page gives these steps:

  1. Install the latest Viber on your phone, and make sure the phone and the computer both have a stable internet connection.
  2. Download Viber for desktop from the Viber download page and install it.
  3. On the phone, open Viber, tap More, tap the QR icon and scan the code shown on the computer.
  4. Approve the activation when the phone's operating system and Viber ask.
  5. Tap Sync on the phone to start syncing.

What the device limits mean

The tablet set-up page explains primary and secondary devices. Every device linked to an account is one or the other, and an account has one primary device and an unlimited number of secondary devices.

DevicePrimarySecondaryWhat the Help Center adds
PhoneYes, onlyNoNew contacts can only be saved, and stickers downloaded, on a primary device
TabletYesYesThe phone number can't be changed from a tablet
DesktopNoYes, onlyViber must be installed and activated on a phone first

Deactivating Viber on the primary device also deactivates the secondary devices and shuts the account down, and the primary device can deactivate the others remotely. The page gives no separate count for computers. To see what is linked, open More, Settings, Account and Desktop and tablets on your phone.

What happens when you try to combine or swap accounts

The Help Center spells out several consequences:

  • Two numbers are two accounts. Viber says two accounts with different phone numbers can't be merged. If you change your number to one that already has a Viber account, that other account is overridden and deactivated, and purchases made under it, such as Viber Out plans, are lost.
  • Dual-SIM phones. On a phone with several SIM cards, the Help Center says not to tap Change to SIM number, because your accounts will override one another.
  • Moving a computer to another account. The documented route is to deactivate Viber on the desktop and link it again from the other phone. Deactivating logs you out and deletes the app's data, including the media download folder. Linking again only brings back what is on the phone, and media received more than 14 days before reactivation may be lost.

Is there a Viber for the browser?

Google suggests searches such as "viber desktop web". The download page and the supported-platforms page list apps for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux and mention no browser version, so the usual browser-tab approach to a second account is not something Viber describes. It also means browser profiles (see what a browser profile is) do not separate Viber Desktop accounts. What they can do for Viber's web-based tools is covered in the browser-profiles guide.

Official options when one account is not enough

  • One account, several devices. Phone, tablet and computers share the account, and the phone stays the primary device.
  • A separate account per person. Each person uses their own phone number and links their own computer.
  • Communities and Channels with admins. Several admins can run one Community or Channel from phone or desktop, and a superadmin controls the roles. See the business guide.
  • A small business account. Each phone number registered on Viber can have only one, and it can be created and edited only on the phone.
  • The QR scanner is not working. The Help Center suggests the phone's default Camera app (front or back camera) or a different QR app.
  • No QR screen after installing. Required ports may be closed. Viber lists 80, 443, 4244, 5242, 5243 and 7985, for both TCP and UDP, and explains how to allow the app through the firewall.
  • Windows will not run the installer. The Help Center suggests the 32-bit build, and, for an error that EVR.dll was not found, the Media Feature Pack for Windows 10.
  • It worked, then signed you out. See why Viber Desktop logs you out.

Where ADSSPEED fits

ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Viber Desktop is not a browser, so ADSSPEED does not add accounts to it, and it does not change what Viber's Terms allow. It fits the browser-based side of Viber work, such as an agency's sign-ins for several advertisers: each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so those sign-ins stay signed in side by side without signing each other out, and profile data stays on your own computer. Use it only with accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow Viber's rules. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Viber.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have two Viber accounts on one PC?

Viber's Help Center describes the desktop app as a secondary device linked to the one account on your phone, and the desktop pages read for this guide describe no way to add a second account. Viber's Terms of Service also list creating multiple accounts among restricted actions.

Does Viber allow multiple devices?

Yes, for a single account. The Help Center says an account has one primary device and an unlimited number of secondary devices. A phone can only be primary, a desktop can only be secondary, and a tablet can be either.

How do I switch the Viber account on my PC?

The desktop app shows the account on the phone it is linked to. To hand the computer to another person, deactivate Viber under Settings, Privacy and security, then link it again from their phone. Deactivating deletes the app's local data, including the media download folder.

Is there a Viber desktop web version?

The download page and the Help Center's supported-platforms page list apps for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux and mention no browser version. Viber Desktop is an installed app that needs Viber activated on your phone first.

Can I use the same Viber account on two phones?

Not as described in the Help Center: a phone can only be a primary device and an account has one primary device. Tablets and computers can be added to the account as secondary devices.

How many computers can one Viber account use?

The Help Center gives no separate count for computers; it says an account has an unlimited number of secondary devices. Each computer is linked from the phone with a QR code, and the phone's Desktop and tablets screen lets you pick one to deactivate.
