Why does Wattpad keep logging you out or show 'User not found'? #

Wattpad's Help Center points to a short list of causes, and most are ordinary: a password reset, cookies cleared during troubleshooting, a sign-in name typed the wrong way, a Gmail address with dots, a filtered email or a closed account. This guide takes them one by one with the step Wattpad itself gives. It covers the website on a computer; the app steps differ.

Is there a 'new device' or 'unusual login' screen on Wattpad? #

The Help Center pages on logging in, passwords, account security and single sign-on describe none. They cover strong passwords, logging in only through www.wattpad.com, treating anything suspicious that claims to come from Wattpad as suspect until Support confirms it, and trusting staff only if they show the coloured Wattpad W. The phishing notice adds that Wattpad will never contact users through public messages to request account information or passwords, and that a public message asking you to verify your account should not be clicked but reported to Trust & Safety.

The one verification step documented is email activation: the 'Activate your Wattpad Account' message, which Wattpad says is needed to follow users, vote, publish stories and edit your profile description. A message that claims to be a login alert is therefore a reason to stop and confirm with Support, not to click.

Step by step: get back into your account #

1. Check Wattpad's Status page and its Known Issues page for an outage.
2. Sign in with your email if you were using your username, or the reverse. If your address is a Gmail address with dots, type it without them.
3. If that fails, reset the password: on www.wattpad.com click Log In, then Forgot Password? under the Log In button, enter the linked email and press Send Instructions. The reset email can only go to the linked address.
4. Choose a new password. Wattpad asks for at least 10 characters, with a number, a special character and both lowercase and uppercase letters, and without your username or name.
5. Expect to sign in again everywhere, because a reset logs you out of all devices.
6. If the linked email is out of reach, send a Support request (see below).
7. If you think the account is closed, open www.wattpad.com/user/yourusername with your own username. Wattpad's closing page says a closed account shows 'User not found' there, and that logging in reopens an account you closed yourself, so do not log in just to check.

Connection problems in some countries #

Wattpad has a notice saying users in certain countries, such as India, Vietnam, Yemen, Pakistan and Indonesia, may have difficulty connecting. It says many cases appear related to local internet providers, network routing or regional restrictions outside its control, and that it cannot offer a workaround or an estimated fix for now. It invites affected users to contact Support and to follow the article for updates.

Why several accounts on one computer collide #

• Wattpad's login steps describe one account at a time. Keep each account in its own browser profile instead of logging in and out in one.
• Clearing cookies ends the sign-in. The clean-up Wattpad recommends ends the login that profile holds. Wattpad explains how to clear only its own site, so other sites in the profile stay signed in.
• A shared account has one password. A reset by one person logs out everyone, which is why Wattpad's shared-account advice says to agree before changing or resetting the password or linked email.
• Logging in can reopen a closed account. Wattpad warns that signing in again reopens an account you closed, so remove the saved login of any account you closed on purpose.

What if it still fails? #

On the web, open your username menu, choose Help, open the Known Issues page and select Contact Us. According to the Help Center a Support agent replies within 24 to 48 hours, and it is best to write from the email linked to the account and say which troubleshooting steps you have already tried.

If you cannot reach that email, Wattpad's page on lost email says it will ask security questions and that failing them means it cannot help you regain access. The hacked-account page adds that when ownership cannot be verified, Wattpad recommends creating a new account. That advice is for lost access; it is not a route around a closure for a violation. Accounts closed for breaking the Code of Conduct or Terms of Service cannot be reopened, and the route Wattpad describes for a closure you believe is mistaken is its Appeal Request.
