Does DeviantArt Allow Multiple Accounts? What the Terms and Etiquette Policy Say
Does DeviantArt allow more than one account?
The written rules do not say. The Terms of Service page read for this guide (it shows no effective date) contains no sentence about multiple or alternate accounts, impersonation or sharing an account, and the Etiquette Policy has none about multiple accounts, impersonation, bots, scripts or automation. So you cannot conclude from those two documents that a second account is allowed or that it is forbidden; what you can read is the set of conduct rules that applies to every account you hold. DeviantArt's Help Center also carries its own articles on suspension, among them What is your account suspensions policy? and What happens when my account is suspended?. Open them yourself before relying on any assumption, because the statements below come from the Terms, the Etiquette Policy, the Privacy Policy and DeviantArt's team posts.
What do the Terms and Etiquette Policy regulate?
| Topic | What the document says | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Truthful registration | What you tell DeviantArt when you register, buy something or later must be true, accurate, up to date and complete; keep your email address correct because it is DeviantArt's main route for contacting you about your account | Terms, section 13 |
| False or misleading information | You agree not to give DeviantArt information that is false or misleading, that attempts to conceal your identity, or that you have no right to disclose | Terms, section 8 |
| Password | You look after it and keep it from any third party, you answer for everything done under it, and you tell DeviantArt at once about unauthorised use | Terms, section 14 |
| Conduct policies | You agree to follow the Etiquette Policy and not to forge headers or manipulate identifiers to disguise the origin of content you transmit | Terms, section 19 |
| Spam | No spam, no artificially repeated comments or content, and no repeated commercial approaches to people who have not agreed to them | Etiquette Policy, Promote meaningful interactions |
| Commercial use | Selling or offering goods or services is allowed in the arts for registered members acting as individuals, for small art-focused companies or partnerships with a member among their principals, and for people who engage a member's services; anything else needs DeviantArt's written approval | Terms, section 19A |
| Groups | Run by registered members, not by DeviantArt; they follow their own rules and the Terms, and DeviantArt can remove a group at any time | Terms, section 19B |
| Automated systems | Automated systems or users that ignore creators' no-AI-training choices are treated as breaching the Terms | Terms, section 24 |
| Inactive accounts | DeviantArt reserves the right to terminate or suspend accounts that are inactive for an extended period, in its sole discretion, which deletes or suspends access to your content; no length of time is given, and you are solely responsible for backing up your own content | Terms, section 18 |
| Assigning rights | You may not assign your rights or delegate your obligations under the Terms without DeviantArt's prior written consent | Terms, section 11 |
Registration details have to be true. If you open an additional account for a real, separate purpose, such as a studio profile beside a personal one, it should carry true details and an email address you control.
What happens when a rule is broken?
- Suspension or termination at DeviantArt's discretion. Section 20 says DeviantArt may "at any time, and without notice" suspend or terminate part of the Service, refuse an order, or end your membership and delete content stored on the site, in its sole discretion, if you fail to comply with the Terms or applicable law.
- Etiquette consequences. Failure to follow the guidelines can mean deleted content, a suspended profile or other restrictions to your account, and spam or spam-like behaviour can lead to restrictions or a suspended account.
- The rules can change. Section 10 lets DeviantArt amend the Terms, says members may be notified of material changes through a notification on the site, and treats continued use after the effective date as acceptance.
- No appeal procedure in the Terms. The sections read name none. The contact page lists a Policies category for learning about suspensions and other policy issues, and Login Issues and Account Recovery for recovering an account and appealing a suspension.
How do you run two accounts inside the rules?
- Give each account a clear purpose and an owner, for example personal work and a studio profile.
- Register with true details and an email address you control and can open (Terms section 13).
- Never disclose a password or pass on a code. Terms section 14 covers the password, and DeviantArt's team posts say it will never ask for your password or verification code.
- Follow the Etiquette Policy on every account. Its rule against artificially repeated comments or content, and against repeated commercial contact without consent, applies to each account you use.
- Keep commercial activity within section 19A, and ask DeviantArt in writing if your arrangement is not one of those it lists.
- Do not use another account to carry on after a suspension. The Terms leave suspension and termination to DeviantArt's sole discretion, and nothing in the pages read offers a route around one other than appeal.
- Do not assume an idle account stays untouched. Section 18 lets DeviantArt end or suspend accounts that are inactive for an extended period, without saying how long, so back up what matters to you.
- Re-read the Terms from time to time, because section 10 lets DeviantArt change them.
What do the documents leave open?
| Question | What the pages read say | Where to ask |
|---|---|---|
| How many accounts may one person hold? | No number is stated | DeviantArt's contact page or Help Center |
| Can two usernames share one email address? | Not stated; section 13 stresses keeping the email accurate | Help Center, then the contact page |
| What happens to your other accounts if one is suspended? | Not stated; section 20 speaks of ending your membership, without saying whether other accounts are affected | The suspension articles in the Help Center |
| How long can a second account sit unused? | Section 18 allows DeviantArt to end or suspend accounts inactive for an extended period but gives no length | The contact page, if the account matters to you |
| Can an account be handed to a client or another company? | Section 11 bars assigning rights or delegating obligations without written consent; no account-transfer process is described | The contact page, before any hand-over |
| Is impersonation named as a rule? | Not as such in the pages read; section 8 bars false or misleading information and attempts to conceal identity | Help Center |
What if an account is suspended or restricted?
- Read whatever notice DeviantArt shows or emails to you, and keep it.
- Open the two Help Center articles named near the top of this guide.
- Use the contact page, category Login Issues and Account Recovery, which mentions appealing a suspension. The page notes that logged-out users cannot submit tickets.
- Explain what happened once, honestly. Do not open another account to carry on.
- Keep every other account within the conduct rules while the matter is open.
Where ADSSPEED fits
ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. If you legitimately run more than one DeviantArt account, such as a personal profile and a studio profile you are authorised to manage, each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so the accounts can stay signed in side by side. Profile data is kept on your own computer. ADSSPEED does not change what DeviantArt's Terms allow or how DeviantArt treats an account. See what a browser profile is. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with DeviantArt.
Frequently asked questions
Does DeviantArt allow multiple accounts?
The Terms of Service and Etiquette Policy read for this guide say nothing about multiple or alternate accounts, so they neither allow nor forbid a second one in so many words. They regulate conduct instead: true registration details, password secrecy, spam and commercial activity. DeviantArt's Help Center has its own articles on its suspension policy.
How many DeviantArt accounts can you have?
No number appears in the Terms of Service or the Etiquette Policy pages read for this guide. If the number matters to you, for example for a studio profile next to a personal one, ask DeviantArt through its contact page and keep the reply.
How do you make a second DeviantArt account with the same email?
These documents do not say whether one email address can serve two accounts. Section 13 of the Terms requires registration details to be true, accurate, current and complete and calls your email address the main way DeviantArt contacts you about your account, so use an address you control. Ask DeviantArt if one address must serve two usernames.
Why is my DeviantArt account suspended?
Section 20 of the Terms lets DeviantArt suspend or end a membership at any time, without notice, in its sole discretion, if you fail to comply with the Terms or applicable law. The Etiquette Policy names deleted content, a suspended profile and other restrictions, and says spam or spam-like behaviour can lead to restrictions or suspension.
Can you get a suspended DeviantArt account back?
DeviantArt's contact page lists Login Issues and Account Recovery as the place to recover an account and appeal a suspension, and notes that logged-out users cannot submit tickets. The Terms describe no appeal procedure. Do not open another account to carry on; use the appeal route.
Do suspended DeviantArt accounts get deleted?
Section 20 of the Terms allows DeviantArt to end a membership and delete content stored on the site, in its sole discretion, if you break the Terms. The pages read give no schedule or conditions. Deleting an account yourself is different and permanent: the Privacy Policy says it cannot be restored.
