Keep Several DeviantArt Accounts Apart on One PC with Separate Chrome or Edge Profiles
How do you keep several DeviantArt accounts apart on one PC?
Give each account its own browser profile and sign in to only one DeviantArt account in it. Chrome's Help says profiles let you keep bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings separate, and Chromium's documentation says the user data directory holds profile data such as history, bookmarks and cookies, with each profile in its own subdirectory. DeviantArt's Privacy Policy (last updated 2 June 2026, read 3 October 2026) lists auth and userinfo among the cookies it uses to identify logged users, so the profile that holds those cookies holds the account's sign-in. Firefox containers give a similar split inside one window. Read what a browser profile is first if the term is new.
What does a profile keep apart, and what does it leave alone?
| Item | Chrome or Edge profile | Firefox container |
|---|---|---|
| DeviantArt sign-in cookies | Separate per profile | Separate per container |
| History and bookmarks | Separate per profile | Not separated |
| Saved browser passwords | Separate per profile in Chrome | Not separated |
| Authenticator app and recovery codes | Kept outside the browser, one set per account | Kept outside the browser |
| Your computer and internet connection | Unchanged | Unchanged |
| DeviantArt's rules and how it treats an account | Unchanged | Unchanged |
The browser rows come from the Chrome, Chromium, Edge and Mozilla pages listed below. How private windows and VPNs differ from profiles is a separate topic, covered in the comparison guide.
How do you set it up in Chrome or Edge?
Menu names below are the English ones; your browser may show another language.
- Create the profile. In Chrome, select Profile at the top right, then Add Chrome profile, and choose a name, photo and colour scheme. In Edge, select the profile icon at the upper right, choose Manage profile settings, then Add profile, and pick whether to sign in and sync or to start without your data.
- Decide on syncing. Chrome says signing in with a Google Account in the new profile lets you save bookmarks, passwords and other settings in that account and reach them on other devices. For client or team work, decide whose Google Account that should be.
- Name and colour the profile so you never open the wrong one; a pattern follows below.
- Sign in to DeviantArt in that profile, with the method that account uses: its password, or Google, Apple or Facebook.
- Turn on two-factor authentication. The July 2026 team post says it is switched on in the Security and Privacy section of Account Settings and that the codes come from an authenticator app on your phone. Save the recovery codes outside the browser profile.
- Check the result. Confirm the username before you post or buy anything, then repeat for each account in its own profile. Do not sign a second account in to the same profile.
What is specific to DeviantArt?
- The cookies. The Privacy Policy lists
authanduserinfofor identifying logged users, each with a duration of 1 month, andauth_securefor security. Chromium says the profile folder holds cookies, so a copy of the folder is as sensitive as a password. - The sign-in provider. If you sign up or log in through Google, Apple or Facebook, DeviantArt takes in your name and email address plus anything else you allow through your privacy settings, and states that it does not receive or keep your passwords for those services. Write down which method each account uses.
- The mailbox. Security codes go to the account's email when you change the address or turn off password-reset emails (team post, 31 March 2026). The person who works in a profile needs access to that mailbox.
- Authenticator and recovery codes. They belong to the account, not to the profile. A deleted profile should never be the only place they live.
- Scams. DeviantArt says it will never ask for your password or verification code. No profile setup changes that, and no code should ever be shared.
How do you handle naming, hand-over and backups?
Naming. Put the studio first, then the DeviantArt username, then the owner, for example Nova Studio / nova-art / Minh, and give each client a colour.
Hand-over. Terms section 14 bars disclosing your password to any third party, so hand work over through Group roles, as the team guide explains, rather than moving a profile or sharing a password. If a profile signed in to your own account is being given up, sign out in it first, then delete it (in Chrome: Profile, select the profile, More, Delete, confirm). If you can no longer sign out there, the Help Center article How do I view and clear my active sessions? is the place to review and clear sessions.
Backups. Two different things need saving:
- The account's data. The Privacy Policy points to deviantart.com/settings/gdpr for retrieving account data and says permanent deletion erases your information and cannot be undone, and Terms section 18 makes you solely responsible for backing up your own content. Open the page while signed in to see what it offers.
- The profile folder. On Windows the Chrome default is
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data, and each profile is a subdirectory of it. Keep any copy as protected as a password.
When are ordinary profiles not enough?
| Signal | Why it hurts | What helps |
|---|---|---|
| More than a handful of accounts | Names and colours stop being enough to prevent opening the wrong profile | A tool that opens, stops and organises profiles in bulk |
| Several people use one computer | Profile folders hold sign-in cookies | Separate operating-system users, or Group roles instead of shared logins |
| A task needs a mobile app | A browser profile cannot run an app | An Android phone profile |
No setup changes what DeviantArt's Terms allow or how DeviantArt treats an account.
What if a profile misbehaves?
- You are signed out whenever the browser closes. Check whether the browser clears cookies on exit, then read why DeviantArt keeps logging you out.
- The wrong account is in the wrong profile. Sign out, sign in with the right method and rename the profile.
- Two accounts keep replacing each other. They share a profile; see the multi-login guide.
- A code arrives that you did not ask for. Do not enter it anywhere; the same logout guide explains what DeviantArt documents about security codes.
Where ADSSPEED fits
When plain profiles stop being enough, ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so DeviantArt accounts you own or are authorised to manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. A proxy can be set per profile and assigned to many profiles in bulk, profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and profile data is kept on your own computer. Android phone profiles, each with its own device configuration, run mobile apps on a PC. Setup is in installing ADSSPEED on Windows. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with DeviantArt.
Frequently asked questions
How do I log in to two DeviantArt accounts on the same computer?
Give each account its own Chrome or Edge profile, or its own Firefox container, and sign in to one account per profile. The DeviantArt pages read for this guide describe no account switcher, and DeviantArt's cookies for identifying logged users live in the browser, so the profile is what keeps the sign-ins apart.
Do separate Chrome profiles keep DeviantArt logins apart?
For the sign-in itself, yes: Chromium's documentation says each profile is a subdirectory holding history, bookmarks and cookies, so a login in one profile does not show in another. Profiles leave your computer and internet connection unchanged, and they do not alter DeviantArt's rules.
Can I use Firefox containers for several DeviantArt accounts?
Mozilla describes containers as keeping cookies, localStorage, IndexedDB and caches apart, with history, bookmarks and saved passwords not separated. Two DeviantArt accounts can therefore sit in two container tabs. The DeviantArt pages read do not mention containers, so check that sign-in behaves as you expect.
How do I back up a DeviantArt account?
The Privacy Policy points to a page in your settings, deviantart.com/settings/gdpr, for retrieving your account data, and warns that permanent deletion cannot be undone; Terms section 18 makes you solely responsible for backing up your content. A copy of a browser profile folder is not a backup of the account; it only holds the browser's data.
How do I remove a DeviantArt account from a browser profile I no longer use?
Sign out in that profile, then delete the profile in Chrome: select Profile, choose the profile, then More and Delete, and confirm. If the profile may still be signed in somewhere, the Help Center article How do I view and clear my active sessions? is the place to review and clear active sessions.
Does a separate browser profile change how DeviantArt treats my account?
No. A profile only separates data on your computer, such as cookies and settings. DeviantArt's Terms on passwords, conduct, commercial activity and suspension apply to every account however it is opened, and nothing about a profile changes how an account is treated.
