Does Snapchat Allow Multiple Accounts? What the Terms and Help Center Say

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 6 min read

Does Snapchat allow more than one account per person?

Yes, with conditions. Snapchat's Help Center says you are allowed to have more than one Snapchat account, but every account must follow the Terms of Service, and a Terms violation on one account can limit your use of Snapchat on your device. The Terms text read for this guide sets no number of accounts per person, so the rules below are about behaviour, not a headline number.

The Help Center pages were read on 3 October 2026 and show no update date. The Terms carry the date 21 September 2026. Snapchat changes its policies, so check the current text before you rely on a detail.

Which Terms apply to you

Snap's Terms of Service page holds two versions. If you live in the United States, or your principal place of business is there, you agree to the Snap Inc. Terms. Otherwise you agree to the Snap Group Limited Terms, so everyone outside the United States, including readers in Vietnam, falls under the second version. Both carried the same effective date when read, and a Vietnamese-language copy of the Terms exists. Snap's separate Business Services Terms cover its business tools; see the business guide.

What the rules prohibit

BehaviourWhat Snapchat's text saysWhere
Unauthorised third-party appsThe Terms bar trying to access Snapchat through unauthorised third-party applications. The Help Center says using such apps or plugins is against the Terms, lists emulators among its examples, and warns of login trouble or a locked accountTerms section 8; Help Center page on third-party apps
AutomationThe Terms prohibit using bots, crawlers, scripts or other automated or partly automated tools to reach, scrape or copy the Services, and building or using third-party applications that interact with the Services without Snap's written consentTerms section 8
Sharing or selling accessThe Terms prohibit asking other users for their login details, and buying, selling, renting or leasing access to an account, a username, Snaps or a friend link. The Help Center says never to share your passwordTerms section 8; Help Center page on keeping passwords safe
ImpersonationThe Community Guidelines prohibit posing as someone or something you are not, and attempts to mislead people about who you areCommunity Guidelines
SpamThe Guidelines prohibit it, for example paid-follower promotions and other schemes to grow follower numbersCommunity Guidelines
Opening a new account after removalThe Terms say you will not open an account if Snap has already removed or banned you or your account, unless Snap agrees. The Help Center adds that people whose accounts were terminated may not create a new oneTerms section 11; Help Center lock pages
Account detailsThe Terms ask for accurate, complete and current account information and make you responsible for activity in the accountTerms section 11

What can happen when the rules are broken

  • Strikes and disabling. Snap's moderation explainer says violating content is removed, the person is notified and a strike is recorded. An account that gathers too many strikes over a defined period will typically be disabled, severe harms lead to prompt disabling, and accounts created or used primarily to break the Community Guidelines are disabled.
  • Locks. The Help Center lists behaviour against the Guidelines or Terms, suspicious activity such as excessive friend requests in a short time, a possible compromise, a login from a banned device and third-party app use as reasons.
  • Device bans. Errors SS06 and SS18 mean the device was banned for abuse or repeated violations, and SS07 means too many accounts have been associated with it. Snapchat says Support cannot unban a device.
  • Terms and Guidelines. Snap may restrict, terminate or temporarily suspend access if you fail to comply. Once an account is disabled for violating the Guidelines, you may not use Snapchat again without Snap's permission.
  • Inactivity. The Snap Inc. version says Snap may terminate an account after prolonged inactivity and may reclaim a username. This guide did not confirm the same sentence in the Snap Group Limited version.

How to appeal a lock or a ban

  1. Open the Snapchat app and try to log in. If the lock qualifies, a pop-up offers Appeal Decision.
  2. Tap it and follow the prompts. The Help Center calls this in-app process the only legitimate way to appeal a lock.
  3. Wait for the answer. The locked-account page says review may take up to 30 days, while the appeals page says Snapchat aims to reply within two weeks. The two pages differ, so expect the longer figure.
  4. Do not send extra tickets outside the approved process. The appeals page and the Help Center page on Community Guidelines locks both say that will not speed things up or change the lock.
  5. For a temporary lock, accounts.snapchat.com also offers Unlock. A permanent lock cannot be undone that way.

For the codes and messages you may see along the way, read why Snapchat logs you out or asks for a code.

A short checklist for several accounts

  1. Be able to show who owns each account and who authorised you to manage it. How agencies manage client ad accounts shows the ownership model.
  2. Keep one verified email and mobile number per account, and use contact details your business controls.
  3. Do not share passwords. Give teammates roles instead (business guide).
  4. Use Snapchat's own app and Snapchat for Web only. Remove unauthorised third-party apps and plugins.
  5. Do not use scripts or automated tools against Snapchat.
  6. If an account is removed or banned, appeal. Do not open a replacement.
  7. Check rarely used accounts now and then, since the US version allows termination after prolonged inactivity.

Where ADSSPEED fits

ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side. Proxies can be set per profile and assigned to many profiles in bulk, profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and profile data stays on your own computer. ADSSPEED does not change what Snapchat's Terms allow or how Snapchat enforces them. Use it only with accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow Snapchat's rules. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Snapchat.

Frequently asked questions

Can you have multiple Snapchat accounts?

Yes. Snapchat's Help Center says you are allowed to have more than one account, but every account must follow the Terms of Service. If one of them breaks the Terms, the same page says you may be unable to use Snapchat on your device for an extended period of time.

Can you have multiple Snapchat accounts with the same email?

The Help Center says only one email and mobile number can be verified per account. If two accounts share contact details and they are verified against the newer account, the details are removed from the older one, which can leave that account without its recovery contact.

Is there a Snapchat account limit?

The Terms version effective 21 September 2026 and the Help Center pages read set no number of accounts per person. They do describe a device ban (error SS07) when too many accounts have been associated with a device, so there is no count you can treat as allowed.

What counts as a Snapchat account restriction?

Snapchat's pages describe temporary access limits, account locks, device bans and termination. The Terms say Snapchat may restrict, terminate or temporarily suspend access if you do not comply, and for Community Guidelines violations it says it will notify you and offer a chance to appeal.

Why was my Snapchat account locked for violating the Community Guidelines?

Snap's moderation explainer says violating content is removed, the person is notified and a strike is recorded, and an account with too many strikes over a defined period will typically be disabled. Accounts created or used mainly to break the Guidelines are disabled as well.

Can I appeal if my Snapchat account is locked permanently?

If the lock is eligible, the app shows Appeal Decision when you try to log in, and the Help Center calls that the only legitimate way to appeal a lock. A permanent lock cannot be undone with the Unlock option, and people whose accounts were terminated may not create new ones.
