Threads
Is There a Threads Business Account? How Brands and Teams Manage Threads Profiles
Is there a separate Threads business account?
Not in the pages read for this guide. Threads' Help Center describes one kind of Threads profile, created by signing in with an Instagram or Facebook account, and the profile stays connected to that account. For a brand, the account behind the profile is therefore the asset to own and protect. Meta's Business Help Center also has an article titled Add or Remove a Threads Profile to Your Business Portfolio (title read 3 October 2026). Its body could not be read for this guide, so open it for the current steps.
What Meta documents for brands and teams
| Topic | What the pages say | What it means for a team |
|---|---|---|
| Ownership | A Threads profile is connected to the Instagram or Facebook account it was created with | Create or keep the profile under an account the business owns, not a staff member's personal one |
| Business portfolio | Meta's Business Help Center has an article on adding or removing a Threads profile in a business portfolio, and Threads' username page refers to accounts in the same business portfolio in Meta Business Suite | Ask the portfolio's admin to handle it, and read that article for the steps |
| Usernames | If Instagram and Threads usernames don't match for accounts in the same portfolio, existing Threads ads pause and crossposting from Meta Business Suite is disabled. The page adds that from September 2026 matching is no longer required to run Threads ads | Agree one handle before an agency takes over |
| Shared logins | Accounts in one Accounts Center can use shared login info, and you can remove a Threads account from it at any time | Keep each client's accounts out of your own Accounts Center |
| Instagram access features | The Instagram pages on shared access and on Page roles do not mention Threads in their text | Do not assume they extend to a Threads profile |
| Passwords | You are solely responsible for activity on your profile and your password (Threads Terms). Soliciting, collecting or using other users' login credentials is on Instagram's list of things you can't do. The Help Center adds that a profile deleted by you or by someone with your password cannot be restored | One person, one login. Never ask a client for a password |
Keep recovery in business hands
- Email and phone. The Help Center (read 3 October 2026) says that if you cannot access the email address or phone number you registered with, and the Threads account was not in the same Accounts Center as your other profiles, Meta cannot give you access. If the profile was created with an Instagram account, these are the same details as that Instagram account's. Register business-controlled details, not a staff member's personal ones.
- Messages from Meta. Meta says official security messages go only to your email address, and that it never sends direct messages about your account in its apps. Someone must watch that mailbox.
- Two-factor authentication. The Help Center's page on Threads two-factor setup says the feature isn't available on computers, so set it up in the Threads app or a mobile browser. Backup codes are listed on instagram.com under Meta Account, then Login and security, and Meta says to save them where you can reach them when you log in to Threads.
- Login requests. For a profile created with an Instagram account, Meta advises turning on login requests, which alert you whenever someone tries to access the account.
Bringing people in and taking them out
Onboarding
- Confirm in writing who owns the Instagram or Facebook account behind the profile and who may grant access.
- Check that the recovery email address and phone number belong to the business.
- Turn on two-factor authentication and store the backup codes with the owner.
- Turn on login requests if the profile was created with an Instagram account.
- Give each person their own access wherever Meta offers it. Never pass the password around.
- On your PC, open each account from its own browser profile, as the browser profiles guide explains.
- Record who has which access and when it was granted.
Off-boarding
- Remove the person's access in whichever Meta tool you used to grant it.
- In Accounts Center, open Password and security and review login activity and where you're logged in. Act on any entry you do not recognise.
- On a computer, click Menu, Settings, More settings, then Website permissions, open Active, and click Remove next to any connected app the person set up.
- If the person ever knew the password, change it in the Threads app or a mobile browser. The Help Center says every device logged in to the account is then logged out. Check that the email address and phone number are right too.
- Check Accounts Center for linked accounts you do not recognise.
- Before a hand-over or deletion, download a copy of the account's information: Accounts Center lists Your information and permissions for this. The Help Center suggests doing it before deleting, and says the owner has to log in to request deletion.
- Delete browser profiles that were used only for that person or client.
Where the documentation runs out
- No Threads-specific roles. The Threads pages read describe no invitations or roles for Threads itself. The Instagram pages on shared access and Page roles do not mention Threads, so this guide does not claim they cover a Threads profile. The agency ownership guide describes the same discipline for ad accounts.
- A client offers you their login. Decline politely. Instagram's Terms bar soliciting, collecting or using other users' login credentials.
- Ads paused after a rename. Check the username page named above, because it describes the current position on matching usernames.
- Threads is not in Accounts Center. The Help Center says Threads in Accounts Center isn't available everywhere, so some people will not see it yet.
- You were locked out after a staff change. Read the sign-in guide for Meta's recovery pages.
Where ADSSPEED fits
For a team's own workstations, ADSSPEED can give each client or brand a browser profile of its own on Windows or macOS, so opening Client B's Threads account does not sign out Client A's. Each profile keeps separate cookies, local data and settings, proxies can be set per profile or in bulk, and profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, with the data kept on your computer. It does not replace Meta's access tools: every person still signs in with their own account. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Threads.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Threads business account?
The pages read for this guide describe one kind of Threads profile, created by signing in with an Instagram or Facebook account, and no separate business sign-up. Meta's Business Help Center has an article titled Add or Remove a Threads Profile to Your Business Portfolio, so open it for the current steps.
How do I create a Threads business account?
The Help Center says that to create a Threads profile you sign in with an Instagram or Facebook account, and that you can create one profile for each. For a brand, create it from an account the business owns, with business-controlled recovery details.
How do I manage multiple Threads accounts for clients?
Keep each client's profile under an account the client owns, get your own access through Meta's tools, and keep client accounts out of your own Accounts Center, because accounts in one Accounts Center can use shared login info. On your PC, open each account from its own browser profile.
Can the Threads app handle multiple accounts for a team?
The Threads app has a Switch profiles list for several profiles on one phone, but the pages read describe no team roles or invitations for Threads itself. Give each person their own access where Meta offers it, and never share a password.
