Multiple Threads Accounts: What Meta's Rules Say About a Second Profile

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 6 min read

Can you have more than one Threads account?

Yes, within one structure: one Threads profile for each Instagram and Facebook account you have. The Help Center says so, and the pages read for this guide state no overall cap on how many accounts one person may own. The Threads Terms of Use, shown in the Help Center with a last-updated date of 28 May 2025, say you sign up and log in with an Instagram account, a Facebook account or another account Meta may enable later, and that they supplement the Instagram Terms of Use and the Meta Community Standards. The Community Standards overview says they cover Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Threads.

Rule by rule: what Meta's pages state

Three things that get mixed up

  1. The Facebook-only bullet. Meta's Authentic Identity Representation page does contain the words "Create or maintain multiple Facebook accounts", but they sit in a list introduced with the words On Facebook. The list that names Threads is about accounts that belong to underage children, impersonate someone, misrepresent identity, or use a name that breaks the Community Standards. Do not quote the Facebook bullet as a Threads rule.
  2. The five-per-email figure. Instagram's Help Center says an email address can only be associated with up to five Instagram accounts. That page is written about Instagram accounts and does not mention Threads in its text, so it is not a Threads limit.
  3. No cap is not permission. A missing account count says nothing about the conduct in the table, such as impersonation or automation.

What follows a broken rule

  • Content and access. The Threads Terms say Meta can remove Threads content it believes violates the Terms or the law, and can refuse or stop providing all or part of the service, including terminating or disabling your access.
  • Account Status. On a computer, click Menu in the bottom left, then Settings, then Account Status. It shows removed content and features you can no longer use, and offers Request a review. Meta says repeated removals can cost you access, and that in most cases you get a warning first.
  • A disabled profile. You see a message when you try to log in, and you may be able to ask for a review by opening the app, entering your username and password and following the instructions.
  • Signing up again. After you delete a Threads account, the Help Center says to wait 90 days before signing up again with the same Instagram account. If an account was removed for violating the Community Standards, you may not be able to sign up again with the same Instagram or Facebook account.
  • Standing on the linked account. The About Threads page lists, among the data from your Instagram or Facebook account that Threads uses, your account status relating to intellectual property violations and instances of going against the Community Standards.

Habits that keep you inside the rules

  1. Know who owns the Instagram or Facebook account behind every Threads profile, and get written permission before you handle one that belongs to someone else. The agency ownership guide applies the same idea to ad accounts.
  2. One account, one Threads profile. Do not try to make a second profile from the same account.
  3. Give people access of their own instead of a password. Instagram's Terms bar collecting other users' logins, and the Help Center says a profile deleted by you or by someone holding your password cannot be restored.
  4. Keep your tools honest: no automated account creation, and no bots or scrapers pulling data from Threads. Now and then, open Menu, Settings, More settings, Website permissions on a computer and remove connected apps you no longer use.
  5. Stay away from services that sell likes or followers, and never hand one your login.
  6. Do not buy, sell or transfer accounts or usernames.
  7. When a profile is restricted or disabled, go through review. Another account is the wrong answer.
  8. Re-read the Terms from time to time, since these pages reflect 3 October 2026.

When a decision looks wrong

Two official routes exist: Request a review under Account Status, and the review option offered when you try to log in to a disabled profile. Locked out for some other reason? The sign-in guide lists Meta's recovery pages. Deleting a profile is not an appeal: the Help Center says it leaves your Instagram or Facebook account in place, and that you must log in yourself to request it. For several profiles on one PC, see the multi-login guide.

Where ADSSPEED fits

Keeping the accounts you are entitled to run tidy is a practical job, and that is the part ADSSPEED covers. It is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that gives each account a separate browser profile with its own cookies, local data and settings. You can set a proxy per profile or assign one to many profiles in bulk, and open, stop and organise profiles in bulk. Profile data stays on your computer. ADSSPEED cannot change what Threads allows, and it is not affiliated with Threads.

Frequently asked questions

Can you have more than one Threads account?

Yes, within one structure. The Help Center says you can create one profile on Threads for each Instagram and Facebook account you have, and that you can add several profiles and switch between them. The pages read for this guide state no overall cap. Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage.

Is it allowed to have two Threads accounts on one device?

The Help Center documents adding and switching profiles, so using two accounts you own on one device is a described feature, not a violation the pages list. What the pages prohibit is conduct such as impersonation, automated account creation, scraping, and buying, selling or transferring accounts.

What does a Threads account restriction mean?

Threads' Account Status page says posting content that goes against the Community Standards can lead to restrictions, such as no longer being able to use certain features, or to your account being taken down. Check Menu, Settings, Account Status on a computer, and use Request a review if you think a decision was wrong.

Can two Threads accounts use the same email?

The Threads pages read set no email limit. A profile is created from an Instagram or Facebook account, and the one limit found is Instagram's: its Help Center says an email address can only be associated with up to five Instagram accounts. That page is about Instagram accounts, so check it for current wording.

Can you delete a Threads account without deleting Instagram?

Yes. The Help Center says deleting your Threads account won't also delete your Instagram or Facebook account. You have to log in to request the deletion yourself, because Meta says it can't delete a Threads account for you, and it suggests downloading a copy of your information first.
