Does Vimeo Allow Multiple Accounts? What the Terms of Service and Guidelines Say

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 5 min read

Does Vimeo allow more than one account?

The Terms of Service page read for this guide (last updated 8 July 2024) does not set a maximum number of accounts per person. It deals with accounts in other ways. An account may be used by only one person, and login credentials may not be shared. A Self-Serve plan's bandwidth allowance applies to your aggregate use across all Self-Serve accounts you control. And you may not open multiple accounts to get round bandwidth limits.

Vimeo's Help Center says the same thing in a bandwidth FAQ that asks whether several self-serve accounts raise the threshold: "Opening multiple accounts does not increase your bandwidth limit." So the rule is about what you do with accounts, not about how many you hold.

What do the Terms and Guidelines actually restrict?

BehaviourWhat the official pages sayPage
Sharing one login between peopleAn account may only be used by one person, and you may not share your credentials with anyoneTerms
A team using one loginEach team member must create an account with their own credentials; you answer for your team members' actions and must monitor their access and usageTerms
Opening extra accounts for bandwidthNot allowed; allowance is counted across all Self-Serve accounts you controlTerms; Bandwidth page
Accessing someone else's accountProhibited unless the Terms permit itTerms, code of conduct
Deception or impersonationActing deceptively or impersonating a person or organisation is prohibitedTerms, code of conduct
AutomationRobots, botnets and scrapers are prohibited except through Vimeo's APIs, public search engines under robots.txt, or with written permissionTerms
SpamMass distribution of the same or similar content, dubious sales links, and bots, scripts or other automated toolsGuidelines
Inauthentic behaviourIncludes creating accounts that are not genuine, liking or commenting on your own content from another account, and buying likes or commentsGuidelines
Getting round security measuresTrying to get round security, rate-limiting, filtering or other access restrictions is prohibitedTerms
OrganisationsThe person registering or using an account for an entity needs authority to bind it; organisational users must display the entity's legal name publiclyTerms

What happens when a rule is broken?

  • Account action. The Terms say that after a breach Vimeo may end the agreement immediately, with or without advance written notice, and may suspend, delete or limit access to your account and the other accounts you control.
  • Content moderation. The Guidelines say violations may result in suspension, restriction or removal of content, account privileges, or the entire account, and that account removal happens in severe cases such as willful or repeated violations.
  • No fresh start. The Terms say that if Vimeo deletes your account for breach, you may not re-register, and the Guidelines say the same about creating a new account after permanent removal.
  • Bandwidth. According to the Help Center (read 3 October 2026), Vimeo may reach out if usage passes 2 TB in a month at least twice in 12 months, or 10 TB once, and an account left unresolved is at risk of temporary suspension.

How do you stay inside the rules with several accounts?

  1. One person per login. If colleagues need access, invite them as team members instead of handing over a password; Vimeo's security tips also say never to share your password. The roles guide explains how.
  2. Give each account a real purpose and its own email address. Vimeo's ownership-transfer page says each Vimeo account needs a unique email.
  3. Do not use one account to like, comment on or boost another. The Guidelines list this under inauthentic behaviour.
  4. Do not open extra accounts to spread bandwidth. If you need more, choose a plan that fits your usage.
  5. Keep scripts and bots out of sign-ups and engagement. The Terms prohibit automated access such as robots, botnets or scrapers, with exceptions for Vimeo's APIs used under its API terms, public search engines, and cases where Vimeo gave written permission.
  6. Keep written authority for any brand or client account you run for someone else.
  7. Log out after each session on a shared computer. The Terms require it.

What if an account is restricted, deactivated or removed?

First look for Vimeo's notification email; the help page on account access says a deactivated account may have breached the Terms or the Guidelines and suggests searching your inbox for the reason. If you think the decision was a mistake, the Guidelines give an appeal route: complete the Appeals Form, identify what was removed and explain why you think the decision is wrong. Vimeo aims to reply within 30 days where practicable, and says it may deny appeals filed more than 30 days after content removal or 60 days after account removal, so file promptly. Do not open another account to carry on, because the Guidelines say you may not create a new account after permanent removal.

What about accounts created by accident?

Vimeo says duplicates often come from logging in through Facebook, Google or Apple. It cannot merge accounts but can move videos between them through a support ticket, as its transfer page explains. The Help Center treats accidental duplicates as something support can help with, and the multi-login guide walks through the routes.

Where ADSSPEED fits

ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. For someone who legitimately runs a personal Vimeo account and another for a brand they are authorised to manage, separate profiles keep each account's cookies, local data and browser settings apart, so both can stay signed in together. Profile data stays on your own computer. The app has no bearing on Vimeo's Terms, Guidelines or enforcement, which apply either way. See what a browser profile is and installing ADSSPEED on Windows. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Vimeo.

Frequently asked questions

Can you have two Vimeo accounts?

The Terms of Service page read (last updated 8 July 2024) does not state a maximum number of accounts. It does say each account may be used by one person only, that opening several accounts to get round bandwidth limits is not allowed, and that a Self-Serve plan's bandwidth allowance covers all Self-Serve accounts you control.

Can you share a Vimeo account with someone else?

No. The Terms say an account may only be used by one person and that you may not share your credentials with anyone. Each team member must create an account with their own login credentials, so teams work through invited members with roles rather than one shared login.

Does a second Vimeo account raise the bandwidth limit?

No. Vimeo's bandwidth page says the 2 TB monthly threshold applies to all jointly controlled accounts. The Terms add that if you exceed your allowance Vimeo may require a more suitable plan or end the account on advance written notice.

Why is my Vimeo account suspended?

The Guidelines say violations may lead to suspension, restriction or removal of content, account privileges or the whole account, and that removal of an account happens in severe cases such as willful or repeated violations. The Terms allow Vimeo to suspend or delete your account and other accounts you control after a breach.

Can you create a new Vimeo account after yours was removed?

Vimeo says no. The Guidelines state that if your account is permanently removed you may not create a new account, and the Terms say that if Vimeo deletes your account for breach you may not re-register. If you think the decision was a mistake, use the Appeals Form instead.

How do I appeal a Vimeo account removal?

Complete the Appeals Form linked in the Guidelines, identify what was removed and explain why you believe the decision is wrong. Vimeo aims to reply within 30 days where practicable and may deny appeals filed more than 30 days after content removal or 60 days after account removal.

Can I run a Vimeo account for a company?

The Terms say that for an entity, the person who registers or uses the account must have authority to bind it, and that organisational users must show the entity's legal name on the public profile. People working for you should use their own accounts as team members.
