Two Vimeo Accounts, One PC: How to Set Up Separate Chrome, Edge or Firefox Profiles
Do you need a separate browser profile for each Vimeo account?
If you want two different Vimeo logins open at the same moment, yes: one profile per login is the simplest tool an ordinary browser gives you. According to Vimeo's Help Center (read 3 October 2026), you move to another account by logging out and logging in again, and the login link sends an already logged-in visitor to the homepage. A profile removes that constant swapping, because it carries its own cookies, and cookies are what keep a login alive. If a single login with team switching already covers your case, you need none of this; the multi-login guide explains that route, and what a browser profile is covers the basics.
What lives in the profile, and what stays with the account?
| Where it lives | Examples | Effect of a separate profile |
|---|---|---|
| In a Chrome or Edge profile | Cookies and logins, history, bookmarks; saved passwords in Chrome | Kept apart for each profile |
| In a Firefox container | Cookies, localStorage, IndexedDB, caches | Kept apart per container; history and bookmarks are not separated |
| With the Vimeo account | Library, team memberships and roles, plan, two-factor setting, login email | Unchanged; they follow the account into any browser |
| Shared by everything on the computer | The device, the internet connection, Vimeo's rules | Unchanged |
A private window or a VPN does a different job from a profile; the comparison guide sets out the differences.
Set up one profile per account in Chrome or Edge
- Create a profile. In Chrome, select Profile at the top right, then Add Chrome profile, and pick a name, photo and colour scheme. In Edge, select the profile icon at the upper right, then Manage profile settings and Add profile.
- Think about sync. Chrome says that signing in with a Google Account lets you keep bookmarks, passwords and settings in that account and reach them on other devices. For a client's Vimeo account, decide whose Google Account belongs in that profile.
- Name it before you do anything else; suggestions are below.
- Log in. In that profile open vimeo.com/log_in, enter the email and password and select Log in with email, or use the Facebook, Google or Apple button if that is how the account was created.
- Confirm the account. The avatar menu shows your name and email. If you have not yet, switch on two-factor authentication in Security Settings, by email code or authenticator app.
- Repeat per account, and never log in to a second account inside the same profile.
Vimeo details that matter when you do this
- Forgot your password. Vimeo says the link works only while you are logged out of every Vimeo account, so request the reset in the profile that owns the account, and click only the newest email if you asked more than once.
- How the account was created. Vimeo says there are several ways to log in depending on how you signed up. Duplicates often begin with the Facebook, Google or Apple prompts, so check which Google account the browser offers. Vimeo's sign-up page prefers email sign-up because it keeps access independent of any social account.
- Browsers. The System Requirements page lists Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, current and two previous major versions for playback, and the latest versions for the vimeo.com website.
- Shared computers. Vimeo's Terms say that on a computer others can use, you must log out after each session. A profile folder holds login cookies, so treat any copy like a password.
- Mobile. The same page lists the Vimeo app for Android 8.0 and iOS 16, which no browser profile can run.
Naming, hand-over and backups
Naming. Name each profile after the account and its owner, such as Vimeo · ACME · Linh, and give each client one colour so a glance tells you which window you are in.
Hand-over. Giving a profile folder to a colleague also hands over its login cookies. Use a team role or an ownership change instead, as the roles guide explains. When a profile is retired, log out in it first and then delete it (in Chrome, select the profile, then More and Delete; in Edge, use the ellipsis next to the profile and choose Remove).
Backups. Two different things need saving:
- The account's videos. Vimeo says the video owner or a team member on a paid account can download their own videos from the video settings page, one at a time with no bulk option, and that deleted videos stay recoverable in Recently deleted for 30 days.
- The profile folder. Chromium's documentation says each profile is a subfolder of the user data directory; the Chrome default on Windows is
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data.
Signs that plain profiles are no longer enough
| Sign | What goes wrong | What helps |
|---|---|---|
| Ten or twenty Vimeo logins for different clients | Picking the right profile from the taskbar becomes error-prone, and each one is managed by hand | A tool that opens, stops and organises profiles in bulk |
| Colleagues share a PC | A profile folder carries login cookies, and the Terms ask for a log-out after each session on a shared computer | Separate operating-system users, or team roles instead of shared profiles |
| A task needs the Vimeo mobile app | A browser profile cannot run an app | An Android phone profile |
No setup changes what Vimeo's rules allow or how it treats an account.
If a profile misbehaves
- You are logged out every time the browser closes. Chrome says deleting cookies may sign you out of sites, so check whether cookies are cleared on exit, then read why Vimeo keeps logging you out.
- The wrong account is open in the wrong window. Log out there, log in with the intended email, and rename the profile so it cannot happen again.
- A second account you never meant to create. See the multi-login guide; Vimeo cannot merge accounts.
- Forgot your password does nothing. You are probably still logged in. Log out of Vimeo in that profile and request the reset again.
Where ADSSPEED fits
ADSSPEED is a Windows and macOS desktop app built around browser profiles. Every profile has its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so the Vimeo accounts you manage stay signed in next to each other instead of replacing one another. You can open, stop and organise profiles in bulk, set a proxy on one profile or assign it to many at once, and keep profile data on your own computer. For tasks that need the Vimeo app, Android phone profiles each carry their own device configuration. Setup is in installing ADSSPEED on Windows. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Vimeo.
Frequently asked questions
How do I log in to two Vimeo accounts on the same computer?
Vimeo's Help Center describes taking turns: log out, then log in to the other account. To have both open together, give each account its own Chrome or Edge profile and log in once per profile, or use one Firefox container per account. Check the name and email in the avatar menu to confirm which account you opened.
Do separate Chrome profiles keep Vimeo logins apart?
Yes, for the login itself. Chromium's documentation says history, bookmarks and cookies are stored per profile, so a Vimeo login made in one profile is not present in another. All profiles still share your computer and internet connection, and Vimeo's rules apply to each account equally.
Can I use Firefox containers for two Vimeo accounts?
Mozilla lists cookies, localStorage, IndexedDB and caches as separated per container and says you can be logged into several accounts on one site, while history and bookmarks are shared. The Vimeo pages read do not mention containers, so test each login before relying on it.
How do I back up my Vimeo videos?
Vimeo's Help Center says the video owner, or a team member on a paid account, can download their own videos one at a time from the video settings page using the Share dropdown, and that there is no bulk download. Deleted videos stay recoverable in Recently deleted for 30 days. A copy of a browser profile folder is not a backup of the account.
How do I remove a Vimeo account from a browser profile I no longer use?
Log out in that profile by hovering over your profile icon and choosing Log out, then delete the profile in the browser. The pages read describe no log-out-everywhere button for personal accounts; if you believe someone else has accessed the account, Vimeo recommends resetting your password.
Does a separate browser profile change how Vimeo treats my account?
No. A profile is a folder of browser data on your own computer. Vimeo's Terms and Guidelines apply to each account however it is opened, and nothing about a profile promises how Vimeo will treat it.
