Why Does SoundCloud Keep Signing Me Out or Asking If I'm a Robot?

Why does SoundCloud keep signing me out or asking if I'm a robot?

According to SoundCloud's Help Center (read 3 October 2026), repeated sign-outs usually trace back to browser cache problems, extensions or plug-ins getting in the way, a VPN, or a problem specific to your device. Repeated CAPTCHA requests, it says, come from signing in and out of an account regularly on the same day. Its fix for the first is a short checklist; for the second it is to stay signed in, with a separate incognito window or browser for each account if you look after several.

Other screens have other causes: a new-device email, a forced password reset, a frozen account. The table below separates them. The steps apply to soundcloud.com in a desktop browser; the Help Center keeps separate pages for the Android and iOS apps.

What should you try first?

  1. Look at SoundCloud's Status Blog, which the Help Center suggests checking first when sign-up fails or pages will not load.
  2. Update your browser to Chrome 109, Firefox 121, Edge 121, Safari 17 or Opera 106 or newer, the versions its Technical requirements page lists.
  3. Clear the browser's cache, switch off extensions and plug-ins, and try a different browser. Switch off a VPN if you use one.
  4. If a CAPTCHA keeps coming back, stay signed in instead of signing out between sessions.
  5. If sign-in is refused, reset the password with Send password reset link in Account Settings or Forgot Password on the sign-in form. The link expires after 3 hours. If you forgot which address you used, sign in with your profile URL.

If you see the robot message, the Help Center's own list is: reload the page, use a different browser, try a different computer or device, restart your router, use a different internet connection, make sure the operating system and SSL certificates are current, and temporarily switch off a VPN, ad-blocker or privacy extension. It explains that the attempt triggered systems meant to keep spammers out. If the problem lasts, it points to its AI agent, which connects you to a support specialist.

What do sign-in alerts and 2FA prompts mean?

SoundCloud emails the primary address on the account whenever someone signs in from a device it has not seen before, or one it has not seen in a while. If you recognise the sign-in, the Help Center says you can ignore the email. It adds that the city shown can be inaccurate, that the IP address or location can be missing, and that the alerts cannot be switched off.

If you did not sign in, treat it as possible unauthorised access:

  1. In your settings open Connected applications, choose Revoke all, then Revoke all and sign out to sign out of every device.
  2. Set a strong, unique password.
  3. Add a secondary email address and remove unknown or inactive ones.
  4. Turn on two-factor authentication, and contact SoundCloud support if the activity continues.

Two-factor authentication uses an authenticator app (the Help Center names Google Authenticator, LastPass and Authy) and is not offered by SMS. When a code is rejected, check the clock first: the page says wrong time settings or time zone changes are the most common cause. Backup codes can be downloaded only once, at setup, as a file named soundcloud-backup-codes.txt. An email code is also described as a backup, but only for some accounts so far: it has six digits, works once and lasts five minutes.

Why do several accounts on one computer make this worse?

  • Switching is repeated signing in. The CAPTCHA page ties the request to regular sign-ins and sign-outs on the same day, and switching accounts in one browser does exactly that.
  • Alerts follow devices. SoundCloud does not say how it recognises a device, so no setup removes the alerts. A steady routine does help you read them: open each account from its own browser or browser profile, as the Help Center suggests, so an alert you did not expect stands out.
  • Codes need the right inbox. The 2FA page says to check the correct inbox if you have several accounts or emails.

The multi-login guide compares the options, and the profiles guide shows how to set one up. What a browser profile is covers the basics, and the comparison guide explains how VPNs and private windows differ from profiles.

What if it still fails?

  • Lost phone and backup codes. Reinstall the authenticator and try to restore it from a backup. If that fails, contact support through the support bot from the email address linked to the account; SoundCloud verifies your identity before restoring access.
  • Frozen account. The Help Center says SoundCloud always informs users by email. Contact the AI agent, which creates a ticket.
  • Terminated artist account. The Help Center says reinstatement is not promised, but SoundCloud reviews a claim made through the AI agent with your artist name, profile link and a description of the issue.

Where ADSSPEED fits

ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. Profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and profile data is kept on your own computer. It does not change SoundCloud's checks or rules. Setup is in installing ADSSPEED on Windows. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with SoundCloud.

Frequently asked questions

Why does SoundCloud keep logging me out?

The Help Center lists browser caching problems, extensions or plug-ins that interfere, a VPN and device-specific issues as common causes. Its suggested fixes are to clear the browser cache, switch off extensions and the VPN, try another browser, update the app and re-authenticate two-factor authentication.

Why am I seeing a CAPTCHA on SoundCloud again and again?

The Help Center says that if you regularly sign in and out of your account on the same day, SoundCloud will probably ask for a CAPTCHA, and it suggests staying signed in. For people who look after several accounts it recommends a separate incognito window or browser for each.

How do I log out of SoundCloud on all devices?

In your settings open Connected applications, choose Revoke all, then Revoke all and sign out when prompted. The Help Center says this signs the account out of every device where it is logged in, and advises updating the password and adding two-factor authentication afterwards.

Why can't I sign in to SoundCloud?

The Help Center names several causes: a forgotten password (reset links expire after 3 hours), a forgotten email address (sign in with your profile URL), a robot or spam block, or a frozen account. Its Unable to Sign In page sorts them and ends with the AI agent that opens a support ticket.

Why is SoundCloud two-factor authentication not working?

Codes are time-based, so the Help Center tells you to set your phone's clock to automatic first, calling wrong time settings or time zone changes the most common cause of invalid codes. If that fails, use a backup code, an email code where it is available, or contact support.
