Managing a Brand's Weibo Account With a Team: Roles, Hand-Over and Recovery

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 5 min read

Can a team share one Weibo login, and what does Weibo offer instead?

Not in the way many teams would like. Weibo's Terms (clause 4.6) say users should not transfer or lend their account and password to others, and a Help Center page updated 8 June 2026 advises never handing the account to someone else. The pages read describe no shared-login or sub-account system for posting from a personal or enterprise account. What Weibo documents are narrower helper roles, certified account types and an agency platform.

This article rests on Weibo pages read on 3 October 2026, written in Chinese, and describes official routes only. Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow Weibo's rules. The browser side of running several accounts is in the browser profiles article.

Who can do what: Weibo's documented helper roles

Role or toolWho sets it upWhat the helper can doLimits
Co-administrator (协管员)A blogger invites a follower who is not already someone else's co-administratorDelete harmful comments under the blogger's posts, manage posts and users in the blogger's Super Topic, create fan groups, handle upgrade requests, manage group content and membersUp to 10 per blogger; one blogger per user; mobile only; still rolling out; the blogger can read a log but cannot undo an action, and only the blogger can remove the permission because there is no self-exit (page updated 30 September 2024)
Super administrator (超级管理员)A blogger with at least 10,000 followers names a mutual followerManage the blogger's fan groups, with an action logUp to 10 per blogger; one blogger per user; cannot resign alone (page updated 15 April 2024)

MCN platformAn agency whose main account is a Blue V certified userInvite creators, who confirm by private messageInvitation link valid 72 hours; no shared login described (page updated 23 June 2026)

Certified enterprise accounts: why paperwork matters

  • Applying on a computer: Settings at the top right (the gear icon), then V certification (V认证), then Official certification (官方认证). Upload the business licence and an official letter, pay, and wait for review; the result arrives by private message from @企业微博助理 (undated page).
  • Changing the bound phone: use the Security Center, or submit a form with a liability waiver letter bearing the company seal that matches the licence, plus a licence photo. The letter is valid for three months.
  • Changing the certified entity: Weibo lists a company split, the brand changing its operating company, company deregistration and a rename as reasons. A basic certified account can change once per calendar year (undated page).
  • Dormant accounts: see the last section.

Agencies and creators: the MCN platform

Weibo's MCN page (updated 23 June 2026) says the agency's main account must be a Blue V certified user. After the initial review the agency invites its creators through the MCN management platform; each creator receives a private message from @微博MCN and must confirm within 72 hours, or the link expires. The agency's backend also has options to change the main account or entity and to leave the programme. It links creators to an agency; the pages read describe no shared login.

Off-boarding a colleague: a 7-step checklist

Weibo's operations tips for charities (no date shown) list operator-management points: do not register an institution's account with a personal email, keep personal and official accounts apart, and do password hand-over properly. Next to Terms clause 4.6, the practical conclusion for a team is to keep any hand-over inside the organisation that owns the account and to give outside agencies the helper roles above rather than the password.

  1. Remove helper roles. The blogger can remove a co-administrator's permission; a super administrator cannot resign alone, so the blogger must act.
  2. Change the password. On a computer: Settings > Account security (账号安全) > Change password. It asks for the old password; if nobody remembers it, use Find account. If the bound phone is no longer in use, change it first (page updated 10 January 2025).
  3. Open Recent login records (最近登录记录) under Settings > Account security and sign out any device you do not recognise.
  4. Check the bound and login phone. If it belonged to the person leaving, change it: Settings > Account security > Phone number > Edit. Weibo limits how often it can change; error -30 asks you to wait 31 days.
  5. Turn on dual login verification on a phone the organisation controls. Weibo says it can only be set on mobile.
  6. Review third-party app authorisations. Weibo's page on removing them says some functions are temporarily unavailable (updated 24 October 2025), so check what the settings offer.
  7. Record the owner, login phone and recovery contact for every account.

If a brand account is locked or dormant

Enterprise Blue V accounts that cannot be used after a long time without signing in need a recent business licence photo and a liability waiver letter, submitted through a form (page updated 11 October 2024). Login-name recovery follows the same pattern: the letter must be filled in completely, carry the handler's ID details and a real, hand-stamped company seal that matches the licence, and is valid for three months. Weibo points enterprise users to the private message account @微博企业商业客服 and a separate enterprise hotline, 4000 980 980, listed on its enterprise page. Non-enterprise Blue V accounts (government, media, institutions, campuses, public welfare) can use Find account on the sign-in page. For Weibo's rules on idle accounts, see the rules article; for agencies in general, managing several client accounts.

Where ADSSPEED fits

ADSSPEED is a desktop application for Windows and macOS that organises many browser profiles. A team can keep each brand or client account in its own profile with its own cookies, local data and browser settings, open, stop and organise profiles in bulk, and keep the data on its own computers. It does not replace Weibo's helper roles or paperwork.

Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow Weibo's rules. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Weibo.

Frequently asked questions

Can several people share one Weibo account login?

Terms clause 4.6 says users should not transfer or lend the account and password to others, and a Help Center page updated 8 June 2026 advises never handing the account to someone else. The pages read describe no multi-user login for posting.

What are Weibo co-administrators?

A feature, still rolling out, that lets a blogger invite followers to help manage comments, Super Topics and fan groups. A blogger can have up to 10, each user can serve only one blogger, and it works on mobile only (page updated 30 September 2024).

What is a Weibo super administrator?

A role for bloggers with at least 10,000 followers: they can name up to 10 mutual followers who help manage the blogger's fan groups, and a super administrator cannot step down alone, because the blogger has to act (page updated 15 April 2024).

What is a verified or Blue V account on Weibo?

Weibo's Help Center groups Blue V certification into enterprise, institution, media, campus, government and public-welfare types. An enterprise application on a computer goes through Settings, V certification, Official certification, with a business licence and an official letter.

How do I hand over a Weibo account when a colleague leaves?

Weibo describes no hand-over feature. Remove helper roles, change the password, sign out unknown devices in Recent login records and change the bound phone if it was theirs. Enterprise accounts that cannot change the phone themselves need a sealed letter and a business licence.

What if a company account is locked because nobody signed in?

For long-unused enterprise Blue V accounts, a Help Center page updated 11 October 2024 asks for a recent business licence photo and a liability waiver letter, submitted through a form for staff to process.
