How to Keep Several Weibo Accounts Apart With Separate Browser Profiles

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 5 min read

Can separate browser profiles keep several Weibo accounts apart?

Yes, for the data that holds a sign-in. Google's Chrome Help says profiles keep bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings separate, and Chromium's documentation lists cookies as part of the profile data. One profile can therefore stay signed in to one Weibo account while another stays signed in to a second. What a profile does not change is your internet connection or the phone that receives Weibo's codes.

Weibo's Help Center says that on a PC you use https://weibo.com in any browser (page updated 11 March 2026) and documents no account switcher on the website. This article rests on Weibo pages read on 3 October 2026, written in Chinese. Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow Weibo's rules. For the rest of the picture see what a browser profile is.

What a profile separates and what it leaves alone

ItemKept apart by a profile? Why it matters for Weibo
Cookies and signed-in sessionsYes, profile dataEach account stays signed in
History, bookmarks, saved passwords, settingsYesA saved password for one account does not show up in another profile
Internet connection and IP addressNo, every profile uses the computer's connectionWeibo's page on too-frequent prompts mentions several accounts from one IP address
The phone that receives codes and scansNoEach account's SMS code or scan still goes to its own phone
Weibo's rulesNoThe Terms and the Community Convention apply to every account

Firefox offers Containers, which separate cookies, local storage, IndexedDB and caches inside one window but not history, bookmarks or saved passwords (Mozilla wiki). Edge and Firefox also have profile features of their own, and the principle is the same: one profile, one account.

Set up one profile per account in Chrome

  1. Choose a naming scheme before you start, using the table below.
  2. In Chrome, at the top right select Profile, then Add Chrome profile. If you sign this profile in to a Google Account, Chrome can save bookmarks, passwords and settings to that account and sync them to your other devices. On a shared computer, decide whether you want that.
  3. Give the profile a name and a colour or photo so each window is recognisable at a glance. Chrome Help lists this under changing a name, photo or colour.
  4. In that profile open https://weibo.com and sign in with the account's own phone. On a computer Weibo's check is an SMS code, a private message code or a scan from a signed-in phone (page updated 26 June 2026).
  5. Leave the profile signed in. To work on another account, switch profile (top right, select Profile, then choose it) instead of signing out and in.
  6. Do not tick remember password on a computer that is not yours, as Weibo advises.
  7. Now and then, open Recent login records (最近登录记录) under Settings > Account security and look for devices you do not recognise.

Naming, hand-over and backups

PatternExampleWhy it helps
WB, brand, roleWB · Acme · OfficialThe window title tells you whose account it is
WB, client, purposeWB · ClientB · SupportAn agency can tell client accounts apart
One colour per clientBlue for client A, green for client BChrome lets you change a profile's colour

Hand-over. Do not pass a signed-in profile or its password around: Weibo's Terms (clause 4.6) say users should not lend an account and password. Give colleagues the helper roles described in the business article, and when someone leaves, follow its off-boarding checklist.

Backups. Chromium's documentation says each profile is a subdirectory of the user data directory, by default the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data folder on Windows and ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome on macOS. Copy the profile folder while the browser is closed. A copy contains cookies, so keep it as private as a password.

When a prompt still appears

  • A check after sign-in: on a computer this is normal. Weibo says computers are not added to its trusted-device list, so be ready for an SMS, private message or scan check (page updated 13 January 2025).
  • A verification page that shows an error: Weibo's advice is to clear the browser cache or switch to another browser, and to rest for a while if it reports frequent prompts (page updated 11 October 2024).
  • Too-frequent prompts or error codes: wait, as the Help Center asks, and do not retry in a loop. The causes and waiting times are in the sign-in checks article.
  • A code that never arrives: the same article lists Weibo's reasons for missing SMS and private message codes.

When ordinary profiles stop being enough

Ordinary profiles work well for a handful of accounts. They get clumsy when the list of profiles grows and the names blur, when opening or closing all of one client's accounts is a manual job, and when a profile lives on one machine so handing it to a colleague means copying folders. At that point a tool built around profiles saves time. The multi-login article lists the options Weibo documents.

Where ADSSPEED fits

ADSSPEED is a Windows and macOS desktop app, and browser profiles are what it manages. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so accounts you manage stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. You can set a proxy per profile and assign it to many profiles in bulk; profiles can also be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and the data stays on your own computer. First run: see the install guide.

Use only accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow Weibo's rules. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Weibo.

Frequently asked questions

Does a browser profile let me stay logged in to two Weibo accounts?

Yes, for the sign-in data. Chrome Help says profiles keep bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings separate, and Chromium lists cookies among the data in a profile. So two profiles can each stay signed in to a different Weibo account.

Does a Chrome profile change my IP address?

No. All profiles on a computer use the same internet connection. Weibo's Help Center says several accounts signed in from one IP address can be treated as malicious, so space out sign-ins and do not repeat attempts.

Should I tick remember password for Weibo on a shared PC?

Weibo advises against ticking remember password on a computer that is not your own (page updated 13 January 2025). On a shared work computer, keep one profile per account and sign out when someone else takes over.

How do I scan a QR code to sign in to Weibo on a PC?

On the website choose the scan option, then use a Weibo account that is already signed in on your phone to scan the code. Weibo's pages list this as one of three checks on a computer, next to an SMS code and a private message code.

Where is a Chrome profile stored?

Chromium's documentation says each profile is a subdirectory, often named Default, inside the user data directory. The default location on Windows is the Chrome folder under LOCALAPPDATA, then User Data.

Can I back up a browser profile?

A profile is a folder in the user data directory, so it can be copied, ideally while the browser is closed. A copy holds cookies and therefore signed-in sessions, so store it as carefully as a password and delete old copies.
